Hey everyone, I'm obviously new here and just looking for some guidance with my car audio system.

Right now, I have a 2001 Mustang V6 with the Mach 460 Audio System.

I love the car, like the audio in it, but I need that thump that you get from some subs!

So, as I have heard, the Mach 460 system is a difficult system to work with. If anyone has any knowledge on it, and any tips to get started, lay them on me.

I have no prior experience with car audio, but I'm a smart guy and can pick up on it if you can help. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And price is a concern. I'm 18 and jobless, lmao. I have $230 towards a system right now, and can get some more, but cash flow is not high to say the least.

Thanks for any help you can offer. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Keep reading. Its like school, you'll stay confused for a while then one day it'll click.
If it was a simple system, I think I'd be alright. But this Mach 460 system is teh BULLSHIT! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

For a great overview of concepts, go to this site:

It will give you lots of basic information and you can keep going back there for specific stuff.
Thanks, I have been to that site already. I really just gotta figure out this particular system.

What is so confusing? Rip all of it out, and start from scratch.

What are you looking to do, replace the speakers, put a sub in, amp everything etc..

My friend has a cobra with the mach system in it, and best buy put amps, and 2 component sets in his car.. so it cannot be that hard.

As far as learning goes, read, read, and read some more. Like tapout said, it will all become second nature to you before long.

Welcome to the site.

I'm not planning on ripping the whole thing out, as I think the system is decent as is. I just need some subs in the trunk. I was thinking 1-2 12's.

This is the schematics BTW. I have no ****ing idea what they mean though.

But I guess I could have the people at best buy hook it up. But I was intending on buying the subs at a different place. Circuit City has 2 of these 800 Watt 12 inch subs for $80.

Can you guys tell me if these are decent?

I think you may be able to get those at wal-mart too.

I would look at something a little better, maybe get a single 12" off 800-1000w.

Do you have an aftermarket HU?

Blue cone Pioneers are pretty much crap, and you're getting ***** at $800 for two of them. You can get something 10 times better for that much.

I'm pretty sure he just doesn't know where to get the signal from for the subs...I don't know, but someone else with the Mach system can probably help you.

Reading>you. $80 800watt. not 800 dollars.

The mach system won't be hard to add a sub onto. Just add a line out converter to the rear speakers, and roll from there. No headache like you would run into with something like a new radio.
Check out http://www.davidnavone.com and go to the "Adapters" section. Look at the NE-7V line out converter. Basically, all you do is splice the inputs from the Line Out Converter (LOC for future reference) into the speaker wires from the back speakers. Then, run an RCA from the LOC to the amplifier. That's all the integration you'll have to do from the stock system. Then, just run power, ground, and remote turn-on to the amplifier. A switched 12v source can often be found in the ignition harness, the fuse box, and sometimes power outlets.

Here's a diagram for the LOC.
Okay, so for a DECENT setup, for the money I have, this is what I need?

Line Out Converter(Any way I can get this not online?)

2 12 inch 800 Watt Pioneer subs(Hey, they're cheap) :p

But I'd need to relocate the amp rack.(Whatever that means?)

And if I'm not mistaken, a 1600 or greater watt 2 channel amp?

Add on anything else I will need. Thanks so much for helping me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Honestly, if I were you, I'd save up about 500 bucks to get a sub or two that will be worthwhile. Spending a little extra money on your system will make it sound much, much better. Those Pioneer subs are pretty much crap. Low output, so-so SQ, and 0 lows. You get what you pay for.

If I were you, I'd be patient and wait on another Kicker BOGO on CVRs. $150 for a pair can't be beaten. Also, for a budget amp, go to http://www.profileusa.com, to their online store. Their amps are inexpensive, yet reliable.
