Ignition Switch Wiring

I have a new sony deck recently wired into my 87 toyota pickup. Yet, a problem occurred, the wire running from the fuse box in the kick panel that runs to the cigarette lighter fried itself. Yet that same wire splits into 3, power and ground for cigarette lighter, and the wire to the ignition switch on my deck. With this wire fried, my stereo will never turn off. I have to take the faceplate off every time I turn the car off, yet, there is still power to the stereo, and it kills my battery after about a day and half of not driving. Anybody have this problem before? How hard is it to change out the wiring in a fuse panel? Anyway I could wire a switch in to turn it off with the ignition? Any ideas welcome! Thanks!

Is your cigarette lighter 12V Constant? Not all cigarette lighters are 12V switched. Take a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) and make sure that when you turn off the car that no power is going to the cigarette lighter.
