Ignition 12V Not Working

I'm installing a new cd player in my '05 Century, and it will not power on unless the red(ignition 12v) is connected to the yellow(constant 12v). If the ignition 12v is hooked up properly, the head unit will not power on at all. I've checked the ignition 12v wire with a meter, and it is not receiving voltage when the ignition is on. I've checked my fuse box, and nothing is blown. What could be my problem, and what do you guys suggest? By the way, I'm using a schoshe wiring adapter.. and I've tested another cd player in this setup, and received same results.

sounds like you need to trace that ignition wire with some schematics and a dmm....but it sounds like a fuse problem you check both fuse boxes one inside and one under hood find radio fuses and chech for continiuty across fuse i have found my fair share of fuses before that looked good and were not....if they check out its schematics and tracing.... good luck...

Lots of newer GMs don't have a true accessory power wire behind the head unit; they use the vehicle data bus to tell the factory radio when to turn on and off. If yours is like this, you'll need to run a new wire to a source of accessory power. I like to use the brown wire leading to the ignition switch if it's easily accessable.

Well, I've done some poking around, and found out that my factory wiring harness does not have a 12v ignition wire.. I noticed that where the aftermarkets ignition wire plugs into the factory harness, there isn't a wire at all on that side. So I think I'm going to have to tap into the fuse box, and run a new wire in an empty slot.. what would be the best way to do this?
