What would you do to set your business apart from the others? What would you do to help maintain good business? What would you do to make sure you were making money instead of losing it? Where would you get the products you sold?

Anything else you might do if you were to own yold ur own car audio business.

The things I can think of off the top of my head would be:

I would install all systems no matter if the customer bought the system from me or not. However if they did buy it from me I would install it for a discounted price.

I would host regular SPL competitions.

I would try to become an authorized dealer for the major brands such as kicker, jl audio, alpine, mtx, fosgate, etc so I would order the products I sold directly from the manufacturer. If I could not do this I would go on ebay and look for the top car audio sellers who have ebay stores and talk to them and see if I could order from them for my shop.

I had some more on my mind but i forgot them while I was writing the things above. lol..

But just say what you would do to hopefully have an affective car audio business.

edit: also what brands would you carry?

I would just never start one.

1. Have hot chicks working in the store that don't mind getting 'dirty' to make a sale.

2. Free Hotdogs and Hats

3. Sell to black peeps that don't know how to handle their money? (can I say that?)

That's all you need!~

well im ventureing into the car audio sales thing myself, and the thing i belive to be the better key is dont sell someone something they dont need and dont mark up crap 35-60% AND **** the customers, if you charge a lower price 10-15% over cost you will sell more and when you sell more of something you can get a better price and keep the item at the old price and make more, and when you sell more at a lower price think of it like this , would you rather sell something for 1000 dollars and make 200 of that one sale and it be the only one for the day or would you rather sell 3 of the same item for less and make 325-400 for the one day sales?

I would always come there.

i was thinking about doing this.. in fact, thats why i decided to go into business at osu, but time goes on, i keep hearing from many people how hard it is to have a successful car audio business..

make sure if you do it that you have an amazing business plan in mind.. which right now you dont seem to be completely sure about

edit: not to mention, the audio business doesnt seem to be booming right now.. as our economy is down, people have less money for luxuries likew that

you would have to sell 2 or 3 times as much to cover your overhead. if you had a "crappy" store between your rent/ bank payment, employee pay, insurance, heat/electrical, advertising and taxes you could easily need to make 10++ grand a month just to break even. also i dont think very many manufacturers want their lines sold as "bottom dollar". if 35% is raping in car audio think about how much you pay for clothes, shoes and cologne....in early febuary those $2 dollar marked down from $49.99 shirts should tell you something. also the specialty car audio market shrinks every year by a few percent. why? the systems that come stock in alot of new cars meet consumer expectations or the cost of parts to upgrade the h/u is too costly. if i were to start out i would hit up ever reputable used car lot that sells mini vans and suvs and offer to put in video systems/remote starts........... dont make as much but if you land enough of them its your bread and butter for the month.

and thats what sucks so much about everything this day in time, everyone has their hands in eachothers pockets tryn to take every last penny and the lint ball in the corner just for good keepn
