If you owned your own shop?

Where in Canada? Hopefully somewhere better than where im stuck (Winnipeg) anyways, I wouldnt do the JL (etc..) route either... Seems the stores around here dont sell many top brands like that, and still do well for them selves... Alot of it is just making an afordable system, that the average joe can get, along with alot of GREAT service... and product knowledge is power.

In North Battleford Sask., The customers around here only have about 500 dollars at to spend at a time so the big brand names, although nice either must be sold at near cost or sit on the shelves collecting dust. Just today I sold a customer a 4channel kenwood amp(369.00), 2 kenwood 10's(129.00 each), sealed truck box(150.00), pair of kenwood 6.5's(89.00) and and a 10 gauge amp kit(49.00) for 549.00 before taxes, but this wasn't good enough, he started demanding a kenwood 4028 mp3 player with 4volt front rear and sub out puts for 100 dollars, I said the best I could do was 180. Our sale price is 249 and he still wouldnt go for the 180 (thats barely above bulk cost) I held my ground and he said he would buy the deck somewhere else-*******!! Piss on ya, ya ungrateful bastard!... (letting some steam out...)

Strong performing budget brands is the only way to go it seems around here along with alot of technical support to ensure the products are both installed and being used correctly, which really doesn't bother me because I like the challenge of building budget systems that perform nearly as good as the premium ones. Theres nothing better than having someone sit in your car and listen to your system and then pop the trunk and shock the hell out of them with what your using.

if it sets and you sell it at or around cost you still lose money

its easy to pick a brand you want to sell, but a ***** to deal wiht the reps for the brand.
you are dealing with more than a rep trust me when i did stuff i would talk to the manufacturer and they would want it a certain way. then....... its crazy like some of what shoulda been my accounts but werent because they called up the manufacturer and got set up. what makes it really strange is when its your area and you dont know that that shop even has it due to them calling the manufacturer up and the manufacturer doesnt even let you know lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif . altogether its a hastle on both ends get phone calls to replace product faster (doesnt cost anything) but you have your money tied up until you get that product back. on the other hand if the rep isnt a straight shooter i can understand. if you carry a brand and you are like the only one that sells it and it doesnt sell for you reps can be crappy and offer the line to another shop close by or worse yet just give the line out to a dealer thats 25 miles away or closer because of the amount of potential costomers in your area. trust me reps look at your shop and cliente as well and might just say no (i dont think this happens too much anymore though)

you would think their would be less politics envolved lol

"dont offer it to those guys until these other guys make up their mind (its been 3 months) and the other place wants it but you cant do a **** thing lol its crazzzzzzzy

Legacy and Pyramid exclusively. Buy real cheap and sell real high. Most idiots don't know what's good anyway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

(like JL offers an entire line of amps that have the same circuitry as their slash amps but with a different name and look, their 2nds so to speak) .

What amps are they?

On topic, the first thing youll have to do is determine your target market. If your main market is teenagers, most of them arent going to pay more money for a RE or SS sub, because the Audiobahn looks better. That would be my first step, determining who Im going to sell to, and try to line up products that appeal to that group.

I would start off with this:

Kicker

MTX

JL Audio

RE Audio

Incriminator Audio

CDT

Tsunami

Cadence

Arc

Pioneer (HU's only)

Alpine (HU's only)

Then once buisness picked up I would slowly grow and pick up SOME of:

Rockford Fosgate

Hinfonics

Profile

All Alpine products

Eclipse

Diamond

Adire

Sound Splinter

Stereo Integrity

Boston

MB Quart

Zapco

Treo

Image Dynamics

Phoenix Gold

Panasonic

Power bass
