I just recently left the Residential contracting and took over a stereo shop and seems to be pretty busy we do tint remote starters alarms and audio so there is still a strong demand for audio with the way things are with the economy around Fargo north daokta now we a lil slow but thats due to major flooding everywhere but its still a profitable biz man
that's kinda the point, stay home and do nothing for however long, or get out and try something. Hell if I had to cut mark-up and labor, to the point that I'm netting $10-15 per hour, it is a hell of a lot better than watching the grass grow and the seasons change. IMOI would not open a business in the economy but that's just me. I have been unemployed for over 7 months now and a good friend of mine has been for over a year. Just to give you an idea of what its like. But I would not.
Thank Man!I wouldn't do it right now. I have a friend who has been in and out 3-4 times with in the last couple years doing the shop thing. He is currently working out of his garage right now and his big sales are remote starts.......about 95% of his sales. He does systems every once in awhile. Reason he don't have his shops is CA is a dying breed around here anymore. To many DIYers and people who don't want to spend chedder at the locals. Would only do it if the economy turned for the better. I would hold off and do the shitty job for awhile and see what happens.
Maybe go work for a shop and see how they do, then you would see first hand how they are doing in that area. Just because some guy on here states his numbers, don't mean it will be the same where you are.
Just food for thought.
Good luck either way mang. I know you are in a rough spot! Just keep your head held high.
I make alot more as an employee than when I had my own business. Small business in this country right now is a suckers bet.If you have cash, you would be better off buying silver coins, real estate, bond and stock picks. Diversify your investments and you'll make more money than you can with almost any small business.
80% of all small businesses fail within 5 years. Most never repay thier initial investment. That's just a fact.
Well if you have customers in line, that is a good thing.Thank Man!I would be into customization also, not just CA.
Right now I have a Harley Road King and an 08 Escalade and a Master Craft waiting to be done, if I decided to start up I can hit the ground running.
Well if you have customers in line, that is a good thing.
Not sure how you get your stuff, but my friend orders stuff through this book, forget what it is called and he charges the price off there, which I believe is dealer cost? So they are making out and then he charges cheap labor prices is how he makes ends meet. So I guess if you can do it, then have at it. Usually takes money to make money, least that is how I look at it. I mean if you are so bad off right now, then how much worse can it get? So maybe try it and see how it pans out. Never know, might have have a cash cow, or a money pit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Good luck as always!
