IDQ10V3.D2 Right for me?

Hey fellas, been a long time.

Anyway, off the bat let me explain- I listen to Metal. Slayer, Death, Pantera, Obituary, Lamb Of God, All The Remains, Metallica, Devildriver, Kreator, etc....

I got a 96 bubble and want to add some sound. Since I don't listen to much rap (cypress hill when I am blazed lol), I am more towards a "SQL" woofer. I need it to keep up with the pounding double bass and whatnot.

I have heard of Image Dynamics for a long time. I have read reviews, and all signs point to go.

Anyway, IDQ10V3.D2 is the subwoofer that I am currently looking at. I am going to put it in a sealed box.

What kind of amp should I feed it? Keep in mind, I am not entering any competitions, but would like some bump in the trunk when I get into driving mode. My exhaust is pretty loud and time to get into the sound scene before I drop another 3k into performance for my engine.

Any opinions would be appreciated,

Kenny D

If you want your metal to get lound I'd suggest going with an IDmax in a ported enclosure (and give it 500w).

The IDQ does not like more than 400w (or so I've read). The IDQ is a very articulate sub.

You may want to consider an SI sub. They seem to get loud while still staying clean and LOVE power. Very good wirte ups on this sub for a good price (around $250).

I just put in a idq12v.3 in a sealed box and it sounds good, really good, gets loud but I want a little more so I just might get 2. If you like metal and such at least go with 1 12.

Not looking to enter a competition man. I have a stock system and it is almost good enough for me...

Would a 12 be able to keep up with the very, very fast thrash metal and insanely fast double bass?

Also, what is I got 2 of the IDQ's?

I have a guy who works for a high performance shop (Al Harris of the Green Bay Packer's Impala SS was in there last week) and he can build me a box for nothing.

I like my drums...

You should really like that IDQ10. I will have the IDQ12 on a Image Dynamics Q600.1 in the next few weeks. you will notice on the IDQ10 that it is rated to run as low as 50 watts up to 500 watts. http://imagedynamicsusa.com/pdf/iDQ10%20D4%20V.3%20Data.pdf

these subs are efficient so you could run a full system on a 450.4 and use the back half on this sub as a starter system then dump a good amount more power when you want more bass.

Why are you thinking of using a single 10? The 12 is not much more money and it will give you more displacement so you should get more out put but still sound ROCK solid
