I'm new to the forum but not to car audio.
My last setup was a pair of 12L7 kickers, the first ones to come out that were rated at 750rms max. I had 750W ran to the pair. These were in a standard cab 1500 chevy truck at one point and later in a 99 4runner.
My most recent purchases are 2 idMax D2 12's and a Memphis PRD1000 amp. I bought the amp before i knew that i was going to buy another sub. I have the subs wired in series/parallel so i end up with a 2 ohm load. The amp puts out 600W rms at 2ohms. I know this isn't alot but as i said before I bought the amp before I bought the 2nd sub. This is all in a 2002 tacoma ext. cab.
Before I bought anything I wanted to see what was out there that i hadnt seen before. After alot of research I decided to go with idMax for the subs. I read alot of good things about them, namely how loud they are.
My problem is they don't sound even as loud as my old L7's. I know that they might not be much louder but I can assure you that they aren't even as loud. The L7's could make my eyes shake and my nose tingle, the Max's do not.
Both of the subs are used but were used for much longer than the break-in period, 3months on one and a year on the other. The rubber surround on the year-used sub is noticably stiffer than the younger sub. The box for the L7's was built to manufacturers specs as is the box for the max's. Both boxes are/were sealed.
What could be my problem here. Am I not feeding them enough power?
