idmax vs. ssa icon

I have heard both subs in ported and sealed

I would take the ICON...it handles power that will leave a Max up in smoke

and the low end on them is just rediculous in a well designed enclosure

my last Termlab check metered 139db @ 20hz with a pair of 10" ICONS

with the Crown BPX 2200.1

at the moment I am running them off of a Crown A3000gti and they do really

well on it...much louder than the old 139db @ 20hz now:D

when your wet farts wire automated controls for almost anything you can think of, i want to meet it..wither it be a inlet valve for a compressor station or automatic shut down when fuel is low on the primary genorators to power a 60million dollar drilling rig... not only does its fire up secondary generators but it does alot of other things in a order of logic.. its called ladder logic.. pretty ****in bad *** and its going to someday drive your automobile for you... your welcome...
i don't need to be here, everyone has perferences, my suggestions are always solid and good suggestions... have a nice night..
You are a manufacturing electrician, get over yourself. Most manufacturing electricians Ive worked with sound alot like you, talk like they are engineers, dress like they are lumber jacks, and have a minimal education from a vocational college. Im just saying, you sound like the type.
Ladder logic is used to describe PLC programming. It is highly unlikely that cars will ever be operated by a PLC. Cars dont need PROGRAMMABLE logic controllers, nor do the manufacturers want them. PLC's are designed to control relatively custom equipment. Their advantages, mostly in flexibility, serve little purpose to a manufacturer who produces tens of thousands of cars a year.

Spec for spec, the IDMax is hardly out dated. I have always felt its a bit pricey however. Especially this many years after initial tooling costs have been covered, and the market is growing more saturated with 'supersubs', ID should be looking to lower prices on the Max.

Some people like how a sub can handle a lot of power, but I'd rather have a sub that doesn't NEED a lot of power to do what it's supposed to do.

Sealed, ported, or IB, the iDmax will sound great with low distortion.

many of the people who does not prefer or like the iDmax are probably bassheads and prefer a little more distortion (believe it or not)

I have my Icons in a Hybrid Horn at the moment (set of 10")

have had them on as little as 400w rms each (set of 12") and they sounded really

good...

I'm not for the Icon because of the power handling..that is just a bonus

I like the Icons because of the SQ and output

I'll be running 4 of them (10")as soon as I find time to build myself another

enclosure:)
