It's a long story, but apparently, the Icon really doesn't do as well in the applications that I thought it did. I can't base my opinions off a modified driver if other people are using unmodified ones.

Seeing that the Icon you are referring to, who's modifications were not much more then a different spider pack optimized for that particular install, your faith is restored.

well thats what im thinkin either pick up a ssa icon 12 to experiment or just pick up another id max lol only thing is i dont like the dust cap on those ssa icons they dent so easily lol

knowing you preference in woofers i highly recommend you look into audio pulse axis or revo... just give it lot more power. ID max= outdated...

I don't know where yall from but here not many people run IDs esp after the serious problems they had... most peeps here run CDT DD JL Focal PG a very few ID,eclpise ... there are designs that are superior in output.. just look around.. the axis has a good deal more output and sounds excellent ported.. w7, acendant audio havoc depending on your application if ya want sealed audiopulse is the way to go or look into the soundsplinter RL-S sick woofer.. also soundstream reference would do nicely.. the ID max gets loud so if you want more output your going to have to upgrade you amp... if you can get a good 2k i would grab the audio pulse axis.

i'm from the middle of nowhere. and even though not alot of ppl heard of ID i'd still recommend it. a coulple years ago ya ID had problems with their parts supplier but that has been long fixed.

i have had a-lot of experence with them, both new and old.. hell after the problems alot of dealers dropped them..there good woofers, no doubt there just alot better woofers out now. audiopulse makes solid woofers.. so does everyother company i listed.. i know hes a sealed box guy which i think is a huge waste when they have designs that are more efficent and sound every bit as good ported...
