idmax vs. ssa icon

I don't know where yall from but here not many people run IDs esp after the serious problems they had... most peeps here run CDT DD JL Focal PG a very few ID,eclpise ... there are designs that are superior in output.. just look around.. the axis has a good deal more output and sounds excellent ported.. w7, acendant audio havoc depending on your application if ya want sealed audiopulse is the way to go or look into the soundsplinter RL-S sick woofer.. also soundstream reference would do nicely.. the ID max gets loud so if you want more output your going to have to upgrade you amp... if you can get a good 2k i would grab the audio pulse axis.

sure it is... im simply stating that there are suerior woofers, IE they sound as good if not better and they have more output...

when your wet farts wire automated controls for almost anything you can think of, i want to meet it..wither it be a inlet valve for a compressor station or automatic shut down when fuel is low on the primary genorators to power a 60million dollar drilling rig... not only does its fire up secondary generators but it does alot of other things in a order of logic.. its called ladder logic.. pretty ****in bad *** and its going to someday drive your automobile for you... your welcome...

it has alot to do with the insall, some products work better in some applications... and no thats not what i was insinuating. just that there are so many other products and applications there is no definite.

i currently own a 12" idmax v3.d2. i just recently got to listen to a pair of 10" ssa icons. my question is, how does the 12" ssa icon compare to the idmax as far as SPL and SQ. i like the idmax's ability to have sq and a bit of spl but i am itching for some more spl so i either will get a new box for the idmax or sell it and get a ssa icon... whats your guy's take?

you just heard how they compare with your ears WTF are you asking us? Which one got louder when you were listening?

Build a new box for the sub you have now if you want a different output its friggin IDMAX.

and get more than 400 watts on that sub would you - I bet it has never moved more than 50% of its Xmax with that little power - try doubling your power at a minimum and then go listen to the tens again.

hmmm maybe if you read closely you could understand what i was asking... i heard a PAIR of icons which were 10's, but i want to know how a icon will compare to a idmax, like a one on one comparison of a 12" icon to my current 12" idmax... how would i compare 2 - 10's to a single 12" i was hoping someone would with experience could tell me how the 2 compare so i could either stick with the idmax and build a new box or dont even bother wasting time and money to have a box built if the icon is better...

i would just get a real amp for that sub and call it a day. imo there is really nothing better for the price of a max. then again im a bit of an id fanboy

Maybe you don't understand. Output is not the only measure of a driver.

I would think the ID Max would be the better sub. Both can sound great but the Max more than likely has more ways to go as far as sealed IB or ported. In the right box they can handle more than 400 watts too. This is just going off of what I have heard not by me tuning or installing them just hearing them in set ups already done. Neither are a bad choice though

The idmax is a 1000 watts RMS driver.
