IDmax sounds like crap

no bass bosst xover on 60hz. difference between it being loud and not loud is only like raising the volume up 3 notches or so

I have to say somthing is definitly wrong or you just like muddy loud booming bass.... I have owned to many subs to count and the idmax is one of the best spl / sq subs I have owned. Do ya have the coils wires backwards..? Crossover set for highpass..? *LOL* man I have seen it all...

3 notches from quiet to bottoming out just doesn't seem right at all... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Humm... I doubt your pushing it that hard. Your box isnt air tight. If it has the smallest leak it can sound exactly like its hittin bottom.

gains about 3/4 up, xover on LP Hp xover is all the way down. I am also straining my batt and amp really hard. when it hits my lights dim real bad. i have the coils right. i took the sub out last night and checked them and also ohm the sub out at the same time. ID tells me that if i make the box .8 then its gonna build too much pressure and blow the cone apart. but if its gonna work better at .8 then ill try it til i get my ported box built. i wished i could have someone listen to it thats familiar with the max's to tell me if its right or not. I am not happy though. my IDQ 12 was louder and pounded more than this thing does.

gains at 3/4 up sounds too high, unless your HU's preout is 2v. first you said your LP x-over was set at 60hz, that shouldn't be 'all the way down' . all the way down would be around 30-40hz. also triple-check your enclosure for any leaks.

i think the problem is is that i am seeing a big voltage drop and im clipping the amp, im gonna bring it in tonight and let it wang and check voltages.

box isnt leaking. i got a guy coming down next week to build me a ported box thats 2.7 cubes@28hz. is it possible that i am pulling so much juice that i am losing alot of amps amd starving the amp? The clip light doesnt come on any.
i find it difficult to try and help you when the story changes here and there. or maybe your amp is clipping and not telling w/ that light

i also think it's the amp. if you have another amp laying around or a friend w/ one, you may want to try it out

just because the clip light doesnt come on doesnt mean its not clipping. i have a memphis 1000d coming tomorrow so im gonna run it.

OH No, you fell victim to the worse sub on the face of the earth! PM me what you want for me to take it off your hands.. . . . . . . . . its crap, im doing you a favor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I'll trade you a LOUD Type R for it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

true, i've edited the post, probably after you read it, but that's irrelevant. Let us know how it goes after that memphis amp is installed. Also, try to set the gains with a DMM if you can. iDmax's are sensitive yet efficient subs. As you have ~1000w to work with, be careful with your gains.
