ID OEM's.. not impressed

Well that would make sense then, thank you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
If the ID mids are less efficient than the eD's you're used to, they'll never be louder off the same power...now since the ID's can handle a good deal of power, that's where they make up for their lower efficiency, and it's also what causes their lower efficiency(more power handling requires a bigger coil, which adds more moving mass, which lowers efficiency).

Of course, this is assuming the ID is less efficient, which I have no idea if it is or not.

Ya, but they obviously can't handle TOO much since they distort on midbass...

What did you have them crossed at? what were your EQ settings? My setup is crossed and Parametric EQ'd like so..

LOW: Freq: 80 hz Slope: 12 db Level: 0

MID-L: Freq: 80 hz Slope: 12 db Level: 0

MID-H: Freq: 3.2khz Slope: 24db Level: 0

HIGH: Freq: 3.2khz Slope: 24db Level: 0

Band 1: 50 hz Level: 0 Q: 1

Band 2: 125 hz Level: -1 Q: 1.5

Band 3: 400 hz Level: 0 Q: 1.5

Band 4: 1 khz Level: +3 Q: 3

Band 5: 3.2 khz Level: +4 Q: 1.5

How do you know it's not from a clipped signal? What amp are you using? Are all of your EQ settings set to flat? If you have anything boosted then your amp could very easily send a clipped signal to the speakers, causing that distorted sound.

I always set everything to flat...nothing boosted whatsoever. Then, if something is too prominent, you attentuate it. DO NOT boost what is lacking, especially if you routinely run your amp near it's full output.

I suspect a clipped signal. There are so many OEM users pushing well over 150w (up to 300 I believe) and have all positive remarks about how they handle power.
