Ice Chest Stereo

Why don't you just buy a cheap blaster and fill the cooler up with beer? Why wreck a good cooler for nothing?
Not to mention, I just bought a marine deep cycle battery: $80!!! Ouch ...

So, while this might be cool:

Cooler ~$20

Battery $$80

HU $100

6x9's ~$80

Total $280 ... not including an amp

Man I like to waste money, but I dunno about this ...

a head unit will run for a while on a deep cycle

15amps @ 12.5 volts is gonna take awhile to drain a deep cycle

you dont need an amp, if anything it will sound horrible in the ice chest but if your gonna do this SQ

isnt your main concern

No an amp wouldnt be nescessary, deck power would be fine
My question is though, where the hell do you ground to?
rofl, noob:rolleyes:

the battery????

I can tell you from floatin' in my boat for hours & hours listening to the radio with no amp that a decent deep cycle battery will last & last ... as much as 6, 8, maybe 10 hours depending on how hard you're jammin' of course.

And, actually I think if you add some polyfill in the cooler, 6.5" or 6x9's will sound very good, if not great. Might want to section off the interior so each speaker is in its own enclosure, but probably not mandatory.

hell yeah, if you are going to do it you might as well deaden the walls, throw polyfill in there, and then make sure that top seals off extremely well.

Making a $500 cooler. haha

Cool idea, BUT id want to make one that still function's as an actual cooler. Otherwise, Why not just make an MDF box on wheel's? Or possibly a Radio Flyer wagon with system?
