Ice Chest Stereo

No an amp wouldnt be nescessary, deck power would be fine
My question is though, where the hell do you ground to?
I bet someone feels silly right about now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
But seriously, alot of car audio enthusiasts make this same mistake, thinking 'chassis ground' means the body itself is the final stop for electrons moving through the electrical circuit. Dont forget, electrical flow from a battery is merely a shifting of electrons from one polarity to the other.

Ive actually seen people drag wire on the ground under their car, thinking it helped their grounding problems. I asked one guy how well the stereo works when it rains, he said he turns it off for fear of shorting it out with the wet pavement.

so instead your going to lug around a 200lb cooler??? retarded
There's these things on most ice chests these days called wheels. No "lugging" required. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Well yeah, I assumed they grounded to battery neg, but then I thought the battery itself had to be grounded itself.... guess Im wrong

If everything works without the battery itself being grounded (which I dont get) why does everything car 12V related disable when you disconnect the battery

Shit, I thought i asked a legit question lol

lol, im sure the wheels on your 30$ ice chest aren't designed for adding an extra 100lbs in batterys, HU, speakers, ice, beer and other goodies

Everything that is grounded to the frame/body is automatically grounded to the motor through motor mounts. If not at the motor mounts a wire runs from the frame/body to the motor. The Battery is grounded to the motor to complete the connection to all of the grounds on the frame/body.

Everything gets disabled when you disconnect a battery because you have opened the loop. Current can only travel in a loop, it can't jump from a wire to a battery through air.

Im not getting this why would it be a half mile away? If you are tailgating like I always have you are near someones car. What about a boombox?
its not just for tailgating. It's for golf and other stuff like that too.

I guess its different on campuses outside the SEC..

But around here we set up tents/picnic tables/grills and all that good stuff when we tailgate. There are huge designated areas outside the stadium for tailgating and you can't park any vehicles in this area. You can park your vehicle temporary on the side of the road to load/unload supplies, but then you must take it to a parking lot. For this reason, coolers with wheel are FTW.
