Heroes are remembered, but legends never die
Ok so i now have a IA DP-15, Dual 1.4ohm coils and im keeping this one lol. Power will be a Soundstream Ta1.3k wired to .7ohm. Dont worry about my electrical etc. All that is covered.

Now im 98% sure im getting a PT Cruiser(blah blah, they **** etc whatever i like them) and assuming that most of you do not have experience with them seeing that they are not popular to most people. So im looking for opinions on what you guys think may work best in the conditions i have in the vehicle and some possible enclosure size ideas, though i already have an idea of what im going to do with the box specs, size, & tune but im always welcome to other ideas.

So in the cruiser there is a bit of space most of which is in the length and the height. The Depth is the dimension in question. The Depth from the rear sear to the hatch is 20 or inches.(I AM NOT REMOVING THE BACK SEATS SO DONT ASK).

I have thought about a couple different ways to do it.

1. Sub up, Port Back, with a slot port. The sub is a 15" so say i go with a tight narrow box at 16" deep. Theres 20" between the rear seat and hatch so roughly 4inches or so from box to hatch. Port would probably be about 4inches wide so not sure how it would load but with port being only 4inch wide i think that would work. (Cant use aero here because of depth and tuning).

2. Sub up, Port Up. I could do either a Aeroport or Slot port with this. The rear of the Cruiser at the top is angled and round. I think this would work well because of it rear shape of the cruiser, but ive never done sub and port up in a build but i have seen it work with good results.

I know sub up port back is usually best in a hatchback/suv but in #1 idk how that would work with 4" wide slot port and 4"s between port and the hatch.

Thoughts,

I like my woofer and port to be on the same baffle. I say sub up port up... Port all the way to back of box so air flow follows up the back widow to roof back up to the wind shield
thats what i was thinking, or sub up port up in general. Seeing there is 20"s available that "should" be doable. i could do a long but narrow port on the back of the box firing up the the back.

I seen a vid of a Cruiser with 2 Type r 12s on some cheap planet audio amp(i think anarcy) in what looked like a prefab sitting subs and port firing up and he was actually able to do a small hair trick and i was like well, thats actually kind of impressive seeing its prefab lol

i dont completely understand the common walls thing in slot ported boxes. If i did a long port across the back firing up up how many common walls is that considered?

i say sub back port back but he said clearance might be a problem. ive seen sub up and port back work pretty goo and ive have even better results with port back sub forward but it highly depends on the cabin shape size and frequency.

the key is to avoid cancellation and achieve acoustic coupling..

truth is its just gonna take experience. build a cheap oh box and try all kinda firing directions then build you a nice maple or oak or birch box once you find the best configuration..

if my G37 wasn't so nice Id rip it apart and throw 2 18s in a wall.. lol

with it being a hatch/suv, sub up port back would be pushing it. Sub up port up would work out i think. Subs and port on the same face in a hatch or suv doesnt usually wield the best performance. ive tried it lol
