IA DP 15 vs DC XL 15 M2

I'm not familiar with the XL m2 which is why I'm asking. But as the title says.

My goal with this is to get a good sub that will perform well in a smaller enclosure, also would like to dig a little lower than and sound a little better than my IA 15. I know that both subs can get loud but, i will assume the IA will get a Little louder but assume its less efficient than the IA DP.

But again i am not familiar with the XL M2.

But your thoughts on this?

IA makes a pretty solid product. I wouldn't consider the XL an upgrade from where you're sitting. Perhaps LV5 or 6 IF DC has gotten their **** together by way of decent softparts, even then I wouldn't expect big audible gains all things being equal. That said, you could switch brands to ANYTHING and gain big if all the stars line up right for you, but more than likely not. You're already in a pretty high tier woofer so just throwing new subs at the same setup likely won't make much difference.

Understood. Im not aiming to be louder though really. My enclosure now is 4 cubes net. I was told the IA DPs like a larger enclosure and i know DC subs like smaller enclosures(for the most part). So if both of these are correct i figured the DC may perform better in my situation. My Sportage is very limited on space and the enclosure now is pretty much built perfect for it leaving enough space for port to breath. Also i figured the DC would play lower as well

I would not expect much difference between any subs in that tier in that size box.

honestly i can tell you just like hearing new subs, so keep swapping in the same tier until you find what you like i guess. clearly you're not too concerned about the time, money, or energy put into swapping them out and whatnot.

i dont think youll be happy until you tune lower, or build with a higher bandwidth and lose some efficiency by adding a second sub or more power to a larger coil

The enclosure is the major factor here. Swapping out woofers but keeping the same enclosure isn't going to get you the results you want. Make a box tuned to 25hz and see how u like then lows:peace:

Theres not much cost to trading though other then gas to get the sub but thats a plus just to take road tripe or get out for long drive every now and then. But your right im not to concerned about that stuff, just like trying different subs. But with the XL i would be switching amps as well due to the IMP's of each sub

I say DC so when softs fail your left with a solid motor to build something real nice on.
this statement isnt helping in any way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif. Plus im pretty sure the Death Penalty motor is stronger in the end

DC soft parts are fine. I've ran DC lvl4 m1s with lvl5 soft parts and nothing failed other then a dust cap came unglued. I have a buddy who runs two m3 lvl5 15s with no failures... my old buddy ran two xl m1 18s and was doing 151db no wall clamping 1400watts. I don't know how that internet DC soft parts svck got started but I haven't seen any crazy failures other then burnt coils and tinsel leads and that's user error most likely

its not the M1 softies, its the M2 that i have seen to be questionable. I know plenty who used the M1 subs and no issues but ive heard ppl have issues with the M2 softies
