i was wondering, does a ported box help a subwoofer stay cooler versis a sealed enclosure? i figure since every time a woofer hits it pushes out air and breathes in new air.... Where as in a sealed enclosure the same air remains in the box, isn't it hot after the driver has been goin for a lil bit? hope someone knows the answer thanks

My sub in my sealed box has gotten really hot before. Never take mine outta the ported to see if its any cooler.

i think there would be enough to make a difference because it blows out air and then sucks in more when it hits some good excursion, so i figured the harder it hits the more coller air it gets from the outside which keeps it balanced out.... i just want someone to tell me if im right or wrong

im not saying the'yre not gonna get hot but having a ported eclosure I THINK would keep it cooler for a longer period of time than a sealed enclosure would

It might help a little tiny bit . But once you start pushing a sub past it's thermal limits ( biggest reason I can think of for excess cooling ) your talking several hundred degrees . the little bit of cooling you might gain isn't gonna help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
