look in my sig. that is what i'm running in my extended cab frontier. my box is around 8 cube before displacement and i can see out my back window. sht gets loud but sounds good doing it. subs up and port up behind driver side.

A few approximations for you:
+3db for doubling cone area' date=' +3db for doubling power.

Next, a 8" sub and a 18" sub could potentially have IDENTICAL response curves. It's dependent on the subwoofer itself, and (crucial) the enclosure.

As far as a 12" beating an 18". It is very possible if the 12" has a distinct power, enclosure, or vehicle advantage. Thus, make sure you pick the right subwoofer(s) and have a great box for them.[/quote']

exactly it has to be all thought out well and every aspect taken into account, gotta get down to the actual science of it. and just in case you didnt realize, inside your truck it will not sound very bassy at all especially if it is facing forward, it will be louder on a meter but will not appear to be as loud or low because your sound waves will not be reflecting off anything to slow down.

Obviously, there is no science without measurement. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

maybe if your in the 100-140 range.. Ive never doubled power and gained 3 in ANY system i had that was 150 or better. suburbans once you hit 55 you can triple the power and wont gain 3.. but ya power and cone area are your friends if your in a rut

The sub will be facing toward the roof of the truck.
K throw some more systems at me I appreciate the ideas.
Your BTL idea shouldn't be dismissed as it leaves plenty of budget left over for other aspects.

DC Level 5, IA has a few candidates.

A newer company, Atmos Audio has an interesting subwoofer you may want to look into. I believe their price tag is $500ish.

Once again, generally accepted approximations. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I would respect the guy wanting to do 2 8"s.... 1 per door as dedicated midbass drivers. If one 18" is "muddy" or "slower" than your 8"s you are doing things incorrectly. Do your 1 18" in the proper enclosure with adequate power and you will be loud. If you MUST do 8"s I suggest getting some and setting the your LP and HP filters correctly so they are dedicated midbass's, Then get some nice horns and you will have a superb setup. 2 8s and an 18 both dedicated for the same frequency range is outlandish and should not happen.
