This isn't the question but me personal i've ran the r's in 10's and 12's never again but if your looking to clean up your sound and not pound the hell out of you than they are great but i burned up 3 of them (The 12") in no time on their power rating might be i pushed them to hard don't know but that's just me. They do have a very nice musical sound.

again if someone has something to suggest in same price range that will handle the power they are rated for, and take a similar sized box, im down to try it out

Sounds like a good variety! If I were looking at something in that price range I'd pick between these 2... just cus they are relatively cheap, grossly underrated, and built like tanks.

But, at $120 shipped to your door, you're really not gonna beat it with anything else! I hope you have it in a ported box that is built to the woofer specs, right? Cus that would really make that TypeR sound good in a proper box.

Personally, I have the single Sundown 10, and I love it! Poor thing is taking ~1300w from my eD 9.1

yeah my brother-in-law builds custom car and home boxes, and loves alpine type r's. this will be the 10 box this year he has made for an alpine type r... lol i am not even in the states and he is going balls to the wall making mine right now.. just cause he is bored.
