Running Extra Batts

Im working on installing extra batts in my hatch. i have 1 gauge ran from front batt to back batt. But i ran short on the 1 guage by like 4 feet. i have some really good 4 gauge laying around not being used. if i ran just a small 4ft run of 4gauge from extra batt to amp would it hurt to do this?

I'm sure there's TONS of people on here that would be happy to sell you a foot or two of 0gauge they have sitting around. And if you fuse too far above an amplifier's limits, I believe that defeats the purpose of fusing... If you have an amp pulling 200a and you have a 300a fuse in the line, 275a could still come in and damage the amp. That's just my thought on it, it makes sense to me, but could be very wrong?
