I don't like when companies take advantage of the little guy. In this case, we have a noob wondering about purchasing an 8w7.

The JL Tech explains that it's a high-efficiency woofer (82db.) so he'll need a big box.

And that he should also pick up a Cleansweep.

And an iPod adapter, while he's at it.

Or, just buy the 10w3 and Stealthbox combo!

LAWL, he never said to go buy those things, he merely stated what he has in his car. There's a reason why a JL person will recommend a speaker along with an amplifier and it is because the equipment is engineered to match other products in the product line.

Also, if the manufacturer tells you to use certain dimensions for a sub box you dont think its because they want you to get the least SPL/SQ right? I can assure you they tried bigger boxes, but just because its bigger doesnt mean its better.

It's okay to be a fanboy.

But if you're a mechanical engineer and subwoofer designer as your newbie introduction states, you should be well aware that there's nothing particular about a JL amp that makes it a perfect match for their speakers, which are also nothing particularly special.

i personally dont' like JL myself. Most JL drivers i've heard did not impress me.

The dude just got mad that i took the side of the alleged JL tech guy. The man wasnt trying to make a sale, he just said what system he was running.
