I think that jlw7s are great subs and worth the money.

I believe the box specs for the XXX is not realistic. To be more specific, they's lyingz to yo ***.
oh are they? Maybe i should run some numbers before i go off their websites then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

either way, i would much rather run an XXX at retail than a w7 at retail.

Should I look up the boxes the manufacturer recommends?
Or I should I actually compare the boxes the drivers work best in?

I can tell you that I know of a dealer who buys XXX's off of eBay instead of getting them from US Amps because it is cheaper even for him that way.

Which "stats" are you comparing, by the way?
well where are those fuckers on ebay getting it from then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I mean, it is fine if you'd rather something else, but these people droning on about how W7's are crap and how there's 1000's of subs that destroy it for half the price don't have a clue what they're talking about. Just because YOU don't want to buy it at a particular price doesn't mean that it is overpriced. For starters, there is nothing like the W7, so it is a hard comparison to make.

you are right that is a **** FINE SUB, it was my second runner up due to size and power issues lol.

the price is amazing but i have this box which is fiberglassed and modded to fit a 12w7

http://wickedcas.com/product.php?productid=94&cat=11&page=1

i only have maybe like 9.5" - 10" mounting depth. i will double check but the XXX is a big monster and would not fit.

I want to try a different sub really bad but due to mounting depth and CU FT available the big subs will not fit. the 12w7 is a good compromise for running one sub off 1000 watts and will give me the SQL i want. I am running focals for my three way setup i am more geared towards SQ.

Fall off truck specials and steals from dealers who need to meet minimum purchase requirements.

The simple fact that the W7 has been on the market for what is approaching a decade now is enough to prove the driver is not overpriced.

The driver has been on the market for nearly a decade, and it's still one of the benchmarks for subwoofers. That is quite an accomplishment and is telling of the capabilities of the driver.

Muncie isn't small....... ~65k population (which is "big" to me). Spent two weeks there about a year ago.....I could happily live the rest of my life if I never went back to that turd.
Huh, he made it seem like maybe a couple thousand people lived there. I grew up in a town with about 10k population...growing to about 25k by the time I graduated HS. It was still a good sized town; I've been to some isolated places with ~1k people and you wonder how in the hell people can live there.

i totally agree 100% couldnt have said it better.... there hasnt been a "new W7" or a W7v2 just the plain jain w7 no upgrades, or a bigger voice coil versions, or whatever B.S is needed like alot of these other "internet bargin boner" subs.

I have a W1v2 and W3v3. cant speak for the w7's in terms of comparisons but the flagships of other makers is sometimes twice what JL charges. audiopuls is like $1700, so like $600 more for 1.5 inches more cone area.My subs arnt very loud compared to other low-mid level brands but their accurate and clean deep sound. I've had em for a year and with twice the power they can take a serious beating and still play good. even had em in a wrong sized bandpass that probably shouldve ripped em apart but didnt.

i've seen alot of blown subs from brands like kicker,alpine..etc over the past 17 or so years that i've been interested in car audio, but at least for the money you know their going to last as long as you care for them to.
lmao. The audiopulse's second lowest model is rated conservatively at 1500 watts RMS. And from reviews I've heard definitely sounds as good.

Their flagship is an 18" subwoofer rated for up to 5k watts. There's quite a difference.

As been said, the reason it's still on the market is because other brands, Fi, Re, AQ, etc, are all fairly unknown. JL has established a base as the top of the line, and it's never been questioned by the mainstream population. These other brands are much cheaper, for the same quality of product, but many people, particularly high schoolers, operate under the assumption that more expensive is better, and aren't able to see comparisons to other products, leading them to retain the belief of JL being top of the line - hence, it's what they save up for and buy.

hence the reason i can use the amps and subs and pound on them all day long and sell for what i paid. Gotta love mainstream, i think next will be a re XXX but honestly probably a Fi Q

Take your average high schooler and flip him upside down and shake him,out pops his life savings..... there was a market for these people with limited finances and some of the net savvy companies marketed to them. Now you have forums populated with these people and their limited finances who preach the gospel about the companies that marketed to them. Anyone can start a company using off the shelf technology. It is the guys that created the technology in the first place that they have to thank..... Nobody else has created a sub on the same level as JL, I don't see a similar speaker...... no off the shelf parts for someone to make a new forum brand of the month could be the reason....

Personally, I will never ever recommend JL Audio to a CDN customer due to the outrageous price difference at dealer cost between Canada and the US market. This opinion though has nothing to do with the creativity that JL Audio continues to show and should not affect the US customer who can afford and appreciate JL Audio.

Not everyone can afford the technology and refinement that say a Ferrari has. Those people that can't can just drive along in their rice rockets and sing kumbaya to their Forum brand of the month speaker fan club and be quite happy with the results that they are getting. Nothing wrong with that either.

^^^^^ very very very well put i just dont like the fact that the only people bashing are the ones that use the forum sub of the month woofers. And why do people always associate a Jl owners as some highschool kid that spends all his money. when most of the AI, FI, and other internet boner subs are middle aged people.... i like Jl, jDD, RE just like any other company that makes good equipment no matter the price or brand but its just funny how Jl seems to get bashed so much on this forum, not because of poor quality but because of price, if you dont wanna spend the money or cant afford it then stop b*tching and move on to ur other brand. its just funny how there other brand ive heard that are $1000 and up per sub and no one makes or complains about them.. I wonder if internet boner companys made a $1000 sub what would all the followers do......Nothing they would still support it because its not mainstream. so what difference does it make?
