I think I fail at building boxes...

do you guys know if the RE enclosure calulator is accurate? because I cut everything exactly how it told me each size should be, and I noticed a few pieces weren't right.

So I decided to try to build my first box ever... It is for my 13w6v2 built to JL specifications....
I cut everything perfectly to the exact dimensions, put it all together, but for some reason i managed to lose .75" in the port width towards the back of the box..

The back of the port is 1" in width, while the part leaving the actual box is 1.75"

WTF is that going to do to my tuning????

I put it in the RE enclosure calculator and it came out to 1.8 Cu Ft @ 26 hz....

so how bad did I fail?

I'll chime in since I don't see where anyone answered your question or where you found out what the problem is...! You put the 2nd port piece on the back (end) of the first port piece instead of on the inside end. That's why it came out .75" short on the width on the rear side of the port!!!

Good luck and fixing that should make it perfect and sound like it needs to sound;)!

I interpreted as him tapering the port by .75" from the opening to the back, but this sounds just as likely, what did you mean OP?

Bingo, lol exactly what I was thinking.

I say see what it sounds like before you throw it out.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not a horrible fail, worse would be a straight .75 missing from one of the sides

Yes thats what i meant, the distance from the back part of the port is 1" away from the back of the box, but the side of the port leaving the box is 1.75".

forgot to include the .75" of mdf ._.

oh well I'll see how it sounds, but it was still a learning experience in itself.

rip that port piece out, sand it down a little, and re-do it. it's possible that you'll break the box up, and have to start over completely, but i've succesfully done it when i first started building. this will teach you to double check before gluing. measure twice, cut once. best rule ever.
