I think I fail at building boxes...

So I decided to try to build my first box ever... It is for my 13w6v2 built to JL specifications....

I cut everything perfectly to the exact dimensions, put it all together, but for some reason i managed to lose .75" in the port width towards the back of the box..

The back of the port is 1" in width, while the part leaving the actual box is 1.75"

WTF is that going to do to my tuning????

I put it in the RE enclosure calculator and it came out to 1.8 Cu Ft @ 26 hz....

so how bad did I fail?

I'll get back to you on if I've failed or not, but I'm building my first box as well. The dimensions are perfect, I cracked the mdf in one spot from using too small of a drill bit, but some fiberglass should fix that. The problem is it is about 0.5 inches too tall and if I stick the bottom plate on it will no longer fit in my trunk.

so your not doing that bad.

had the same problem ended up having to put the top on in the car

well i guess the best way to learn is through experience... I still think we should have like a walkthrough on building boxes stickied or something, that would be pretty cool.

do you guys know if the RE enclosure calulator is accurate? because I cut everything exactly how it told me each size should be, and I noticed a few pieces weren't right.

I'll chime in since I don't see where anyone answered your question or where you found out what the problem is...! You put the 2nd port piece on the back (end) of the first port piece instead of on the inside end. That's why it came out .75" short on the width on the rear side of the port!!!

Good luck and fixing that should make it perfect and sound like it needs to sound;)!
