Even if you use blue/silver, orange/yellow, pink/purple.
If you hooked it up, you would know what is what. I just don't see how this particular accident can happen. Unless someone switches your wires around with out you knowing.

BUT, sometimes, the place that has the terminals labeled is hard to see. So you may not know which is power or ground on the acutall amp. Ive almost done it before, but I always double check before actually connecting anything.

Exactly. On the DLS amps, the labeling is white and the chassis is a brushed aluminum. It's actually pretty damn hard to see unless you have good lighting, I always triple check with my DLS amps for that reason.

specially if you are swapping amps out and they are reversed.

It can be repaired.

A friend of mine did the same thing to a PPI amp in high school. We took it to the electronics teacher and he spent a few minutes with it using a DMM. He wrote down a list of the caps and mofsets that we needed, and we were on our way. It only costs us about $35 in parts to repair it. It took us about an hour, but if you have some skill with a soldering gun, it won't take you as long.

Of course, that was our scenario, yours may be different.
