I removed rear comps..... WOW!

I have 2 sets of Kicker SS comps being run by an Orion 4 channel 100 w x 4 and I have not like the loudness of my system. I blamed most of it on not liking the kicker speakers but I removed the rear comps and I like the system even more!

I still am going to sell the front stage and replace it with a softer SQ set of comps.

Anyone ever have this problem?

What is different about it, the volume level, or just the fact that you only have a front stage now? I'm getting new front components and will be removing my rear speakers so I can run more power to the fronts, so I'm hoping to really have a lot better sound.

The volume level is lower but still loud enough. I beleive the comps I have are too harsh for my liking so I am selling them. I just bought a set of Hertz MLK and I will run mu 4 channel amp and bridge them so they will get 200 w each. I have raamat that I have left over from deading my back part of my truck. I run 2 12's and it rattled my truck like a tin can. !!

I have a Clarion Max685BT DVD player but I have to see if I the HU will run active. I dont know how sophisticated it is! I have thought about getting some coaxes for the rear but I dont have any kiddies and I always let the important people sit up front! (I stole that line from someone on here who wrote it back in 07!)

It would be more work to wire coaxes from my HU....maybe another time!

I just put in the Hertz MLK front stage and it sounds awesome. But I have decided I want some sound coming from the rear so I am going to power some coaxes off the HU.

In the front seat, no rear fill is needed. But I have some pretty big bass and the back passengers are overwhelmed with the bass and the front stage is too far away.

Any suggestions on some mello coaxes under $100?

off HU power look for coax's with a high sensitivity. Otherwise I really like the sound of the Pioneer REV's, but you'll want an amp for them. Wire it off a toggle switch and only play them when needed...

did your bass get noticeably louder now that the bass can get into the cabin easier? i was thinking about removing my rear speakers but the entire back seat has to come out and that seems like a hassle.

The bass didnt change. I have more than that truck needs but I had a frequency gap. Now that I have the MLK's, they fill that midbass I was missing.

I think the toggle is a good idea since I dont need more sound in the front....its perfect IMO.

I vouch for cdt bigtime! they sound soo nice and unharsh..

also, you could run some dedicated midbass back there. thats what i did for a while in my firebird and it really helps out a lot. GENERALLY, look for a high Q speaker if running it free air
