I have had quite a few set of subs but they have always been second hand and cheap. I bought 2 BRAND NEW kicker cvr12 2 ohms. Got the set new for $151 and free shipping. I must say I am not satisfied. I had a pair on xplodes that out banged these and didn't distort. I am running 1000 rms rock. fos. amp. its 10 years old but as far as i know still works perfect. I cant set the gain any higher then 1/4 without the popping or making a fart-like noise. I started with a seald box and went to ported cuz i thought that was the issue but I guess these just ****. any input is appriciated

Its user error somewhere along the line. I have had many big, expensive subs... Ive had 4 BTL 18s, 24 Ascendant Chaos 15s, a Incriminator Warden 21, Treo SSi 15s, etc. So I had a bunch of nice subs, and my 4 CVR 12s that I currently have impress the hell out of me.

Im running 2k to 4 of them, and Im almost at a 143 @ 26hz. Yours should be loud in the right box. I can almost hairtrick.

metered 140.x with a pair on a zx750 , sounded like poop but at 42hz they broke the 40 mark. You doing something wrong brah.

not you gmonk , 43 @ 26 is amazing for cvr's

what do you mean by walled in a clamshell? Why do you think it is a bad set up? I am not challenging your opinion but rather trying to understand. I thought it was a great combo. I have been doing the car audio thing for a while but just recently starting to research and learn about it.

hell yeah. ill have to take some pics and show u guys my setup. maybe yall can lead me in the right direction but i think 420 may be right. Maybe i am just expecting too much.

You have a Rockford 1000 but have 2 dual 2 ohm subs so wiring options are 2the ohm or .5 so I say you don't have an optimal setup as amp and subs aren't matched correctly.

wasnt trying to say anything bad about your set up bro... just the way that you were portraying it... u kno. give us some pics, and we can try to help you out..

just saying that you have a fosgate amp at 1000 rms is just a lil too vague, u kno... if you can get a model number... as well as what you have for your electrical, impendance... you say your running a ported box, what are your dimensions, tune, etc... that the type of stuff we need to know....

the cvr's are a good sub.... they catch alot of heat on here sometimes, but for what they are, their a good sub... just gotta get them hooked up properly.

as for what a clamshell is... just check my build log...

i dont understand. what would be better? i mean the amp is mono and it is 1000 rms at 2 ohm. subs are 2 ohm. seems perfect. shcool me please. i am dying to know where i went wrong. lol
