A dual 4ohm sub with both coils wired in parrallel will give the amp a 2ohm load.

Running a 4ohm speakers with a 2 ohm amp,is ok to do!, when you jump your speaker ohms below 2 ohm resistance pull, is where you will have problems from the amp,Hence over heating the amp, i would just wire the speakers paralel and keep everything about where they need to be. Another thing to add is that your speaker tells the amp to run at what load, not the other way around. There are some amps that have a jumper (like my old Xtant 301a) where you set it to 2ohm or 4ohm but that's not usually the case.
