i need the worlds cheapest 18" sub

ahh sweet....$34.00 18" sub...just what im looking for....only thing is it just says 8 ohm.....any way to wire that to 4 ohms....so it will get 150 RMS from my plate amp?

I would suggest maybe paralleling 2 cheap 15s then. That brings the load down to 4 ohms and keeps the sensitivty the same. Problem is the cheap 15s on that site aren't very sensitive, and with low power (i.e. 75wrms to each driver) sensitivty is going to help out a ton.

Of course it will probably double the driver cost to find two sensitive 15s.

Heres another site to look at:

http://www.mcminone.com

I would just drop the 34$ 18 in there. The plate amp have an 8 ohm rating? It probably does close to 100 wrms into 8 ohms anyways...

and how do you think that an 18" in 9.3 cubes tuned to 28 htz with 100 watts...its going to sound compared to the 12 that comes in that small ported box with 150 watt plate amp?

Box is tuned way too high for this application...seal it up and you'll get better results.

The relatively "high" tuning of ported enclosures works in-car, but home enclosures (read: for bigger spaces) require much lower tuning to get the output.

Actually its tuned too low if your looking to use it in your garage like a PA Style speakers. If you want high output tune it higher to get more SPL. PA/DJ speaker are usually tuned around 45 to 50/ hz. If you seal it up your just going to be losing effieciency and SPL. Tuneing low is only for Home theater duty . All your going to hear is rumble but not high SPL like in a concert .look into this http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=290-410&ctab=2#Tabs

well garage or in my room....i have a receiver and 4 older style floor speakers that will be used for the highs...so its more like a 4.1 then a PA system
