I need some Sub advice please....

I recently purchased and installed an Alpine CDA-9833 headunit as well as the JL Audio XR650-CSi 6.5 components. Now I am looking for some subs to complete the system. I drive a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder so rather than put the subs in my tiny trunk I am going to have my back seat removed and a wall built to house the subs. I have decided to go with two 12's. The guy at the shop where I am having the work done at suggested the Diamond Audio D612D4 subs but they are asking $280 each for them so I figured I could probably find something better at a cheaper price online. I am more interested in sound quality than anything else, however I would like something I could show off with when I wanted to. Also I currently have a Memphis Audio 1000w Class D Mono amp that I would like to use to power the subs with however if needed I would be open to purchasing a new amp as well. I am looking to spend no more than $600. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Main advice to you would be, to not ruin your car. Just have a downfiring box in the trunk. Why turn your car in to a 2 seater? Have no friends?

You could seal off the trunk from the cabin and have them firing into the cabin from the rear deck, or build a wall behind the seats.

well trigger those are good ideas but his car is a convertible. If you have 1000 watts and want 2 12's. I would personally go with 2 RE SE 12's in about 5ft^3 ported tuned to 34hz.

OMFG someone posts up a high score with a type-r and now everyone must have them??? WTF...
who's talking bout high score? i just played with them to day at the store and they seemed to have good sq

A couple Eclipse alum series would work well, they have high output in sealed or ported boxes so the installation options are more flexible. They will work great with 1000watts RMS and you should be able to find a pair for 600 bucks.

For a cheaper option the Pioneer SPL series subs also work well both ported and sealed and will work with your amp, the Eclipse subs have a better low end impact then the Pioneers but they both sound excellent overall.

those are my recommendations.

I second the Eclipse Aluminums....but the dealer hit it on the head with the D6's (m6mkII's) cant miss with those subs, best of both worlds IMO and price is not unreasonable for what they go for around here.

Thanks for all of the advice! As for the advice to not ruin my car, I dont know that I have much of the choice unless I want to go with one 10 in the trunk. Since the top is stored in the trunk when it is down I have very little room to work with. Not to mention my friends only ride with me once if they have to sit in the back anyway because there is about as much room in the back seat as there is in my trunk!
