I need some QUALITY bass, but can't decided

Ok, here is what I am looking for:

A good sub that will be used almost purely for Sound Quality, I am looking to spend about $200 and when I say $200 this is in online DISCOUNTED pricing. So if you are someone who always quotes people MSRP, then I am looking for a sub in the $300-$400 range.

The thing that makes my decision harder is that I want a sub that can handle good mid-range bass. (I would probabbly have the crossover frequency set at somewhere around 110hz to 145hz)

Another aspect is that I have only ever witnessed systems which have like popular consumer brands, like; Rockford Fosgate, Audiobahn, JL Audio, JBL, Infinity, ect ect AND HAVE NOT WINTESSED: XXX, RE, Earthquake, and more audiophile brands. So I would prefer to get a sub from the first group of brands (as long as it is still quaility) but if widely recommenced, I will get a [insert other brand] sub here if it perfecty fits my needs.

THANKS FOR ANYONE'S FEEDBACK

Just to specify more about the "mid-range bass" quality; the setting 110hz to 145hz on the frequency was not an exact figure, It is just a ballpark guess BECAUSE - right now I have an Infinity Kappa 120.3se, I know its pretty much an entry-level or maybe a little bit nicer, but in my experiance this sub is at its very best at LOW FREQUENCIES ONLY. So I will have this sub in my car as the LOW BASS BOOMER, and I want the other sub to be the ALL-OTHER-BASS QUALITY-GUY. So I mean, when you turn your sub to the lowest possible frequency, your missing the rest of the bass horizon, so that is what I am looking to gain.

OH YEAH - 1 MORE IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER:

I would prefer to have a 10" sealed enclosure - anywhere between .50 and .80 cu ft - so that pretty much means I have to have a 10" Sub or smaller (unless there is a 12" that can preform well in a sealed box that size). My trunk is really big, but I do not want to take up all the space. Also if a 10" sub will due, then that will also cost moderately less than a 12".

Just some initial ideas were: Solo-Baric 10L7 (not sure about the SQ of these), JBL Power P1020 or P1020D, Eclipse SW8102.4 10" (know little about this one), and 10" Polk MOMO.

Just a clarification on "Mid-bass":

Yeah normally when you think of this, you say, "get some 6x9's". Well actually I do have some 6x9's - they are stock and are Bose, but they are also amplified. Yeah, they aren't great but should be fine, as long as I have a sub or 2 to supliment the bass.

So what I really mean by mid-bass is that, I will have my 12" Infinity running at the lowest possible crossover frequency, and I want to have ANOTHER SUB, and with the other sub, I will set the crossover frequency to the middle. So basically I am looking for a sub that can handle that.

well the shiva should be fine.... but if you were to put some koda mid basses in the rear deck they would work great because they will work in the mid bass plus they can go pretty low.

if so 2 kodas will fit the bill better than most anything.

your confusing me ... a shiva 10 will work well for low bass.
sorry to tell ya but the shiva only comes in 8ohm dvc 12"

yea buy the kodas and keep the infinity in the low bass range...

this guy is confusing me but i do no he said he wants a sealed enclousure .5-.8 an a 12" shiva whould be good with that but he also said hes lookin for mid bass i think or sumphin so he might not want how low a 12" shiva goes im thinkin a pair of 8's would do good for mids..

i'd say get the koda mid drivers and put them in your doors......for your mid bass.....if u still want something more for your low end....then go w/ the shiva......other than that......the koda mid bass driver is one of the best out there......also make a nice comp set......enjoy.....160 for a pair of koda mids........349 for the koda comp set....125 for a shiva.....hit josh (jlaine) up on pm if your intersted....he usually doesnt charg shipping...another option for the low end is the ed k's (135 i believe?)....never really been an ed fan.....no real reason tho......they make some awesome drivers.....more of a shock someone w/ something plain looking myself...

as far as getting a sub for mid....if you dont wanna go w/ the kodas...get some 8's....anything larger wouldnt be that great for mids........those are my suggestions tho.....

peace

This sub has a nice mid bass probably what your looking for, my cousin just bought two that were used for show for about 350 for the pair, now he has 3 10" in his honda Audessy, A/D/S 10". Good sub
