I've got an 05 Subaru Legacy GT. Great car, except for the radio being tied in to the AC controls. So there won't be an amp or HU upgrade now or in the future. With that said, the stock system sounds fine to me.
BUT
The front speakers are going bad, the rears still sound good. I'm just looking for a good replacement set. If I didn't know any better I'd just head to Best Buy and grab some Polks on sale or something and call it a day. But I'm going to order online so my choices are almost infinite.
I've found Boston Acoustics, MB Quart, Cadence XS, Alpine Type S, and some Pioneers for around $50-$70 a set, which is right around what I want to spend. Does it matter at this point of there's no after market HU/amp? If that's the case I think I'd go with the Cadence XS as they're the cheapest price.
