I need some consulting: 2 15s" or 2 12s"

So, I've had my 4 RD Sonances (sealed) in my trunk for a while now and I'm still content with how everything sounds. Although this doesn't hit the lows like my 10s" did, and I want to build another setup, but keep the Sonances.

Now...I can fit a 6.1 cf. box in my trunk (after displacement) for 2 15s" firing up which is what I want to do. But I'm also thinking would 2 12s" be a better idea since they may be able to move more air. The 2 12s" would also be firing towards the back of the trunk.

Since the box would be bigger with the 15s", would it displace itself, air space wise, moreover than 2 12s" in say a a 4.5 cf. box?

In other words, would the 15s" not be able to move as much air in the trunk as the 12s" would because the box is bigger: less air volume available because of box displacement.

Help me out please with this guys...

seriously don't choke your subs if you're looking for beasty low end.
I'm pretty sure the 15 would be louder though.
That's what I'm worried about. If I dont' give them enought room to breathe, it may be worthless to do 'em. They will be about 4-5 inches from the back of my rear deck (firing up) so the subs themselves would have plenty of room. But would the "trunks air space" be defiant?

I would just go for the 12"s.
I'm kinda leaning towards this...

if you can fit the 15s, i'd do that. there is no replacement for displacement.
I hear on the displacement issue brotha, but let's look at it this way:

Let's say my trunk has a total of 15 cf. of air space with nothing in it (just a guess, but I bet I'm close).

If I put in a box that is 8 cf. for the 15s (external of course) that leaves 7 cf. of air left to move inside the trunk.

Now, if I were to put in a 5 cf. (external) box, that leaves 10 cf. of air space to move.

Since trunks and subs are in the "box within a box" type of modeling, which would actually be a better idea given the same amount of power would be used in each different setup? Granted the 15s" have more cone area, but would the air not be able to escape into the cab more efficiently than 2 12s"?

Granted all of these "theroies" involve many other variables such as box and port design, sub postion, power, etc...

i would do 2 12"s ported facing the cabin leaving as little space around it so its almost walled off in a sense. That is the most luck i have had in my trunk cars. Most trunk cars dont take kindly to 2 15"s firing up to the rear deck. It will cause a LOT of unwanted noise unless you plan on deadening the crap out of it.
