My subs have been hitting softer and softer lately and now they arent hitting period all of a sudden. The light on my amp is still on so i know its getting power and everything is connected good but its not sending anything to the subs. Could it be a problem with my amp (I already checked the ground and its good) could my RCA cables be bad and not sending the signal to my amp or is it my subs maybe? I cant figure out whats wrong and any help would be great. Thanks.
try testing the speaker wires to the sub with a multimeter on ac settings.
if it is not getting anything then your sub could be going bad. also check the resistance with it. the swub will never always be at 4 ohms or whatever it might be. so see what the resistence is if it is going around 8 or higher then the sub is bad
I have this cheap little meter thing thats just 2 prongs connected by a wire and one end has a light for positive and one for negative when i put it to my power and ground the positive lights up and i cant get any lights from the speaker outlets right out of the amp and i dont get anything when i undid my rca cables and checked those too
i dont know that im using it right for sure though
The test light may not show me exactly what i need but wouldnt it at least show some charge coming from the wires running from amp to subs or from the rca cables cause it reads that there is a positive charge from the power wire but all the others it doesnt read anything and if i remember right i had checked it once before for a different reason which was really just a switch got flipped but when i did it then the test lights lit up on the same wires i tested now
