I am kind of new in the car audio and shipping subject.

I am in canada and i want to buy in USA used amp in ~$150 and ship it to canada,

does anyone know's please if i need to pay any: Tax,Customs,Fee etc...

Thanks, i asked the seller what will be shipping cost to Canada ,he told me it will be $25 (To USA it's $15) doe's it make sense ?

will i need to pay more when i will receive the amp by mail?

$25 is reasonable.

USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL ?

Fee's will depend on who brings it to your door and what the shipper says and doesn't say on the form he/she must fill out stating what is in the box.

If it's an expensive amp and the shipper declares full value and it's through UPS, you won't be happy when they show up on your door asking for $100+ in brokerage fees.

Yes you will have to pay duty, customs fees along with GST & PST, when you recieve the amp.

If the item is sent via FedEx you will get the package at no cost and then get a bill about a week later.

If you send the item as a gift you will pay duty on anything over $60

If you value the amp at $60 and insure the amp for $200 then you pay duty on $200 insured value.

I strongly suggest NOT using FEDEX!!! I had to pay $70CDN on $179US speakers

USPS is better $18CDN for $240US parts

From what I know, duty charges depend on whether you order from a private seller or from a dealer. If you were to order something from a person on these classifieds there's no duty charges. I recently paid $175 USD for a product from infinityaudio.com and was billed a duty charge of $76 Canadian

It depends on the shipping company you use and the amount the shipper declares as the value of the good.

I can purchase a $175 USD product from a private seller on here, and have him put the declared value and insure the package for $175 USD. I'll wind up paying.

the seller agree to declare value of $50 and a gift and not insure it ;

this way i will not pay tax or fee ?

(he use usps cost of $25 for a used $130 amp)

If he's sending it via USPS, by the information in your post you're looking at paying a $5 flat rate + tax on the declared value.

$50 USD = $61.50 CAD

If you're in BC, you'll pay 7% PST + 7% GST ... so @ 14% you'd pay around $13 CAD I believe.

Your best bet is to contact your local post office or USPS and get them to tell you how much you'll pay when the package arrives at your doorstep.

get it through USPS, and get the seller to declare as a gift with low declared value (somewhat of a risk, i usually get them to declare at actual value)

youll most likely have to pay tax when it crosses over.
