I need help getting deep bass out of my 12w6v2's

How much power you running?

I got one in the same size box with a MTX 5601 (birth sheet says 725 watts rms)

and it sounds better than the two MTX MXS1004's ( same specs as 7500 series)

I've got. I agree maybe tuning is the answer.

Try different box positions also.

Mine sounds better loaded against the side of my hatch.

man i am confused OP. I have a single 12w6v2 in 1.5ft^3 @ 32hz and it seriously murders the lows. One of the d4l songs or something of the nature makes my door flex with power and my trunk goes insane. I also had it in 1cube sealed and it still got low sealed. You must need more power or something i honestly couldnt tell you, but my single 12w6v2 hits harder, lower, and sounds just as good if not better than all my other subs except for 12"7500 and 12" L7. Way better than my 15"IDQv2 and a lot louder than my 10" idqv3. Sorry about you luck my man. If they are brand new make sure they break in. I would give it a week before noticable diff.

nice to see someone so local to me! If you ever want to sell one of those 12w6's let me know!

45hz is not deep bass at all.
I said SUB 45hz.

I WAS running a PPI PCX 2200 800w @ 4ohms. I pushed both my 12 RF Punch Hx2's and the JL with this same amp in the same 1.25 sealed (with and w/o poly fill) and the Hx2's hit the 45hz and below range much harder and deeper.

Now I moved on to a RF Power 1000 amp which makes 930w @ 1ohm. Once again the RF's Hx2's hit the 45hz and below range much harder and deeper.

Im dissappointed I spent as much for 1 JL as I spent on 2 RF's, and didnt get better performance all around. Good thing I still have my RF's!

Any more ideas?

Rc10mike, I know exactly what you're talking about with the low end on the w6s. I owned an old 12 w6AE and it always lacked low end and I noticed the same on the v2s.

I might be able to help you with another enclosure that they will probably like better than your ported enclosure (what size was it by the way?). If you PM me with your max dimensions, I can see what I can do.

I loved the sound of my w6 but I didn't run it long because it just didn't dig down low enough for me.

i have read a couple of forums on how the jl does not have the low ends,

xmax seems to go both ways,

anyways, jl makes a great product,

you need to have a bigger box,

1.25 might be to punchy for your tastes,

as the rf recommends a 1.25 ported for a t1 and t2 subs.

upgrade the box, 1.60, plus cubic displacement, should give you a 1.5 ish.

i think that should work.

anyway good luck.

always remember a bigger box will give you bigger bass, but be sensible and dont go to large. lol

The JL spec boxes are across the board too small. Make sure that you have the subs in phase.

It is also quite likely that you're expecting the JLs to do something that they weren't designed to do: exaggerate the low end. They're SQ oriented subs. They're not going to be as loud or one note wonders like the RFs. If all you're going to listen to is stuff like Late Nite Tip, stick with the RFs and get rid of the JLs. They're not the right sub for you.

That said, they will still play what they're fed within the constraints of the box. Like I said the JL spec box is too small, go bigger or ported tuned much lower. 2 hz can make a significant difference but you can go even lower than that with a larger box. Tuning in the mid to high 20s is not too low for those subs.

JL's specs for sealed are 1.25 per sub net voulume, which is what I had

JL's specs for sealed is 1.50 per sub @ 32hz, which is what I had.

My box specs are: 16"H x 32"W x 17.75"D, 4.159^3ft gross vol. Slot port 14.5 x 2.5 x 28.9"long@32Hz. After all displacement, 3.097^3ft net vol, 1.541^3ft each.

I just did an install in an escort with 2 in 4.5 cubes with 70 in. of port tuned to 35hz.

It pounds out the lows awesome and gets quite loud . These are nice woofers but the w3's are still my favorite

Try a bigger box with more port

x2. JL's boxes are smaller than they should be. My JL w0 was recommended in 1.25 sealed, but in that small of a box, it rolls off around 30 hertz in car. I got a bit bigger (1.5 net) and it sounded A LOT better in the lower end. Hell, perfectly flat response with a w0 is 2.2 sealed, IIRC.

I'd try 1.75-2.0 sealed, or 2.25-2.5 ported tuned to 25-28 hz. That should help a ton. If you go ported, be a bit easy on the gains.
