I need help chosing a new amp

Ok I have much bad news to report.... I took the subs out and looked at them and realized that they are 2 ohm Dual voice coil, but they were only using one of the voice coils, so I was like wtf and looked closer and on one of the subs one of the leads going from the Voice coil to where the power plugs in, is broken off. On the other sub there is an x marked on the spot where the pos and neg plug into the sub.... I called my friend in much anger and he told me that he bought them and used them for like a week or two before upgrading to something better, and didn't even take them out of the enclosure they were in.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif This really pisses me of though because the two speakers were wired in parallel, so 2ohm in parallel = 1ohm load correct? If so that is probably why my little shitty amp fried... (well that and the fact that it is what it is.... lol) Apparently my friend bought them off some one in the newspaper classifieds that said they were new and he tried to call them back but no answer, no machine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif :furious: .... So now I have two halfway working subs... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I am not buying used anymore, well unless I have a phone# and Address of someone who is willing to take a verbal and possibly physical beating if they sell me any more broken crap... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif So I am going to take this as a learning experience and walk away with that lesson, and I would also like to learn how to repair these subs, or if that is too involving then does any one know how much it would cost to fix these two subs?

Thanks for all the help so far everyone, these audio forums have helped me learn a lot, mostly because of the great community, and you can't have such a good community without Awesome Members so THANKS!!!

If I am reading right you can solder the 1 where the VC is pulled off the power plug. That X shouldnt mean anything. Kicker doesnt sell recone kits for those subs I believe only the SOLO X, so your going to have to replace them, or make the best by doing as I said, and you need to get an amp thats stable at 1ohm if you want the best output

I am glad you understand what I am saying after rereading it, it is confusing but for lack of technical terms it works... I guess I get to get my soldering iron out and see what I can do to fix that one. I don't really want to run the subs at 1 ohm,I don't know if I even can. I just didn't know if two, two ohm subs in parallel would make 1 ohm load.

They actually wire to a 0.5 ohm load or a 2ohm load, and why would people wire to a 1 ohm load? Obviously you have alot to learn, basically you want to match an amp with subs to get the most power out of them, and the amp I offered to sell you would LOVE a 0.5 ohm load and get INSANELY loud

I didn't want a 1 ohm load, I thought they were two single 4ohm voice coils wired together to a 4 ohm load, I pulled them out to find out that they are not a single 4 ohm voice coils but instead dual 2 ohm voice coils with each having a bad voice coil, so basically right now I have two 2 ohm subs. The two 2ohm subs are wired in parallel so I think two 2 ohm subs wired in parallel would give me a 1 ohm load, but I don't know that as true.
