I need help choosing a car to buy

You may want to look into a Thunderbird, I had a 92 super coupe for a while that had a stick and was pretty peppy.. Not sure how it compares to the 5.0 flavor but I know I got better mileage than in my stang.

ma stepdad has a mazda protoge 5 ( waggon looking thing )

it sits low to the ground, it handles like a race car.

has room for you to pack it up with all ur stuff and go off to school.

add a pillow back there - and theres enough room for *** in the car.

gets good gas mpg.

there is a ton of room for car audio crap in the rear area also.

falls under your budget. = moneys left over for upgrades.

x2, my bro had the 5 speed turbo coupe and it was a blast to drive..

I am in the same situation except for the fact that I am in college already and am going back for 2nd semester in 8 days.. I need a vehicle and my grandma comes into play and helped me by paying for the down payment, got me a 04 ford explorer limited.. pretty neat..

didnt want a car since it is about 600+ miles to my school from home so I wanted some cargo space to bring my s hit there and back.. and be able to pull some, I m gonna rent a small U-haul trailer since I am moving off campus so I need to bring my furnitures.. so SUV could come in handy..

just my .01

my explorer definitely is out of your price range but it could come in your price range if you look at 2001 or older explorers with decent mileage..

well unless your a really good mechanic go for american cars, imports cost up that *** to repair (especially if theyre at that age group)
Nice blanket statement. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

When I was living on campus, I cleaned up in moving others' furniture around, to and from storage, that sort of thing...paid in either beer or cash, I didn't mind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

How much driving do you really see yourself doing as a freshman? I know I didn't do a lot when I was living on campus.

U-haul will not rent you a trailer if you have a ford explorer... Do a google search!

With that said, my sister has a 95 explorer sport (2 door) with 270,000 miles and still runs like a champ. It pulled an 18ft dove tail trailer and a s10, it pulled pretty good for a v6.. It's a 2wd and a 2 door, so averages about 18-20 mpg with a mixture of driving... You can find them with 5 speeds... And explorers are one of the louder suv's.

Get something cheap and easy to maintain. Cars are a horrible investment, as you never get as much out of them as you paid, unless you get an awesome deal to begin with. I paid $2200 for my 240sx, and its a great car. Sure it has some body work that needs to be done... but considering I got it a year and a half ago and it runs fantastic... I couldn't be happier. You're 18, no need to burden yourself with the weight of a car payment.

Get an Altima, Maxima, Camry, Civic, Accord, etc.

Don't get any kind of sports car. They get you in trouble, and they're just not practical. You have the rest of your life to get your dream car.

All coupes and available in a manual transmission. Can also be had for the budget you are working with .
300ZX TT = NO way in hell. Expensive to maintain, extremely difficult to work on.

SC300 = Decent car. Being a Lexus it is again very expensive to maintain.

Prelude = Excellent cars. I would recommend this to a college student.

240sx = I love these cars. Easy as pie to work on and maintain. Cheap to maintain. A blast to drive. I've owned them since before I had a license.

Yeah I didnt do much of going out when I lived on campus last semester since I live in dorm and got a meal plan at the cafeteria on campus.. but since the room and board price is ****ing nuts so I am moving off campus and I will have to get my own food and all that so vehicle is going to be very helpful..

I know man, I am not stupid.. My dad owns a F-150 so I am gonna pick up the trailer with the f-150 and then when I get home, I will just move the trailer to my explorer.. just gotta look for a loophole just like I did and it works..

Did the exactly same thing last summer when my mom wanted a trailer to move some shi t to our cottage with her 02 explorer..
