Whats A Good Sounding Exhaust For A 98 Mitsu Eclipse?

Are Tanabe Mufflers Any Good. My Main Concern Is A Deep Sound And A Good Price.

Well Tanabe makes quality exhaust, but its just a muffler and piping. Your paying for the namesake when you spend like 500-600 for an exhaust system. I bought a cat-back from Borla for my f-body a few years back and regretted it from day one.

Just go out and buy a muffler that you like (dont know if you had a preferance) and then take it to a muffler shop and have them run new LARGER piping. If your looking to gain performance by doing this the biggest gain lies in a higher flowing converter.

has anyone tried a flowmaster? I'd like to hear one of their 60series, theyre made for smaller displacements like most sport compact cars. you might want to check that out.

definatly. and dont just buy for "sound". sound is good (when its not that douche bag loud shit that is annoyin as all hell), but you should realy be lookin at the performance aspect of the exhuast.

Any well made cat-back system that has 2.25 to 2.50 inch, mandrel-bent stainless steel pipes and through-style muffler with a resonator should sound and perform well.

Oh, and a freind of mine DOES have a Flowmaster on a Nissan 240SX; Not fancy looking but it does have a nice deep tone that's not anoying at all (No annoying buzzing sound); but the motor is a 2.5 ltr.; big four cylinders do sound better.

PLEASE use a resonator on whatever exhaust system you pick; they help stop the annoying buzzing sound that small four-cylinders tend to make without them.

unless u have a turbo car, dont bother for performance. but if you want the sound, just go with a muffler and weld it on. u get the look, the sound, and no performance. because NA eclipses arent meant to be fast anyways.

for a eclipse... get something thats not crap. tanabe is very nice (you get what you pay for((unless you know a guy who finds things that fall off trucks :thumbsupw )) but apex is also super sweet. get a system, not a muffler... cat backs will sound better in the long run, deeper, not louder. and when you do get it, don't be a dick and rev it every 3 seconds at a light, or wind it up to red line every shift....
