I need advice from the gods... ("experts" please)

Actually in a saleen (not too small)
Equipment was a DDz12 and only 4k. The box took me and my coworker 30 minutes to build out of scrap wood. It has potential to be louder after a little testing.

Fine, I'm doing 151.x with two DD2510s in a 4 door alero....
A Saleen is a Mustang. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif Both it, and your car, are much smaller than a Caddy. And Caddy's are notoriously hard to get loud. Never said it was impossible, but Id definitely consider walling off the trunk as I suggested earlier. Im not sure if this is you suggesting it wont help to seal off the trunk, but it appears that way.

don't worry about the rear seat not folding down guys... Says right in the rules the back of the rear seat can be removed as long as it is laid on top of the back seat as if it where folded down. so that isn't an issue at all, I usually remove the seat back anyways (they've never made me lay it down before though, not sure whats up with that, usually just set it outside the car....

I think I want to try something a little "easier" at first before I do the "trunk wall" thing. My other "issue" is space obviously, the most I could see myself getting and still have enough room for the batteries would be about 8ft^3 after sub displacement. So I would have to figure out a port, that is why I planned the external port through the rear deck. Honestly the only ports I have ever dealt with is a slot port and just a standard "round" port back in the day (PVC pipe). Sub up is still my only option unless I do the wall thing but I think I will try a sub up, port back box first and see how that works out. I assume I will need a pretty **** big port?

Anyone want to help me out with how big/long of a port I would need to get to about 40hz and then another for 32hz? The box will end up a little on the smaller side I am sure though, let's just say 14" tall, 40" wide and 28" deep for now. That will leave like 5"-6" above the box and about 12" behind the box so there is room for me batteries still. The box will be on the smaller side as that is only like 7.3ft^3 gross box are so...

I APPRECIATE THE INPUT THUS FAR!

I know a saleen is a mustang...lol

I recall in your first post that you said getting a general trunk car to 150 is hard. You said nothing about a large trunk car. I also recall telling the OP that he would most likely brickwall at a 145 in his trunk.....Also as Canaan just said, a charger is a HUGE car, and it is pretty easy to achieve a 150 in it.

Im not sure if this is you suggesting it wont help to seal off the trunk, but it appears that way.
How does it appear that way? lol. I was just showing you that it is fairly easy to achieve a 150 in a trunk.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

The reason I said "Actually a saleen" because you said "in a much smaller car." A Saleen is not exactly a smaller car. A civic can be considered one, though.

OP,

If you unbolt the seats, you should be able to do a 150 fairly easily. It won't be daily at all though.

not looking to do a 150+ daily... just at the comps. I was doing 144~ with my daily setup before (15" on 3Kw in 4.5ft^3 @ 40hz) that was with the rear seat and everything still stock and intact, no rear deck porting or anything like that either...

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree that a mustang and a caddillac are considerably different sized cars.

well guys... nit "picking sides" or anything like that AT ALL but my cadillac is not much bigger than a Mustang. it is only a two door and the hood is most of the size to be honest. the cabin itself is not very big at all. can't really fit anyone in the back seat unless they are 5ft or shorter and even then it is a crunch.

EDIT: OK, I just checked my cadillac has a passenger volume of just under 100ft^3~ and a newer mustang has a passenger volume of 96ft^3~ so my cadillac is just slightly bigger. Mustang cargo volume is 13ft^3~ my cadillac is 15ft^3~ /arguement

now back on topic please

Of course they are close to the same size lol. I've only worked in both of them many many many times.

OP,

I would actually build two different boxes. One for daily, and one for comps. For the SPL setup, I would do sub back, port to the drivers side. This will place the port 90degrees off axis. Preferably, use an external port tuned a bit lower than where you think you are going to peak (start at 50hz or so). From there, you can always cut the port shorter to make the tuning a bit higher when you are testing to find the perfect frequency.

did you even read it dip shit? LOL... I can't do sub any way except UP unless I do a "trunk wall" my deck height will not allow it.

I still say a BP is the way to go here. The issue is getting the ouput out of the trunk and into the cabin. If you do a bp all the output will come from the port which is now inside the cabin. You could even simply build two ports running through each of the 6x9 holes and have one setup to tune to 32hz and the other at 45. Then just use a port plug on the one you don't want to use atm... Kinda complicated on the dimensions, I'd probably try and do 2 12's or simply 1 15 if you went with this setup that way you could use slightly smaller box to get your port lengths right easier. I'd fit the biggest aero you could through the hole and then use a flare once you get it into the cabin if you dont' want to chop anything.

I must have missed it when you said that. Good luck.
no problem man... Just giving you shit because I have said ti a few times due to people suggesting I mount it rear facing LOL...

My fukkin air bags still haven't showed up so I still haven't got started on this **** build! I did have an Acrylic back for my Z1 made with the DD logo etched in. so I guess that can kind of count as a start //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
