i know what the problem is. it has a few blown outputs. and the board looks a little burnt...

so you say it still powers up , but it will start smoking right?

i can find the output "fets" for the amp. no problem. they will cost around 4.00 each though. it has 32 of them. and i have to replace all of them. if i don't the amp will just blow up again..all of the 64 gate resistors will need to be replaced also. (and whatever else i find that is bad)

the audio driver card ( the vertical card in the output section) will need to be rebuilt as well. that will cost 50.00. to have it shipped off to db-r, and have him do the work. i dont have the equipment.

me and chris have been friends since 07. he does good work. he just hates to mess with these "big" amps. i am just about the only person who will repair them. (or at least try..lol)

32 outputs - 4.00 each plus shipping = 135.00

1 driver card rebuild = 50.00

labor is going to run around 225.00

guesstimate- total with return shipping is going to be around 435.00

this is cheap for a repair this big. and it is a beast to get out of the heatsink ,let me tell ya...lol..

after im done ,i will have replaced almost 100 parts inside the amp. i wont do repairs any other way. the parts need to be replaced to make the amp more reliable after the repair.

if you want to send it to me. my address is :

thanks.

The Kappa's have a high sensitivity rating of 93 db so the X802-5 would be fine. A good high sensitivity 8" sub in a properly sized box would fit...
