I need a boxmaker to make me something pretty

Okay, to be honest, if one 15" XXX isn't enough bass, let alone isn't clean or low enough, then there's something wrong with your system...and it isn't the speaker.

Maybe im gradually going deaf and it takes more and more for me to hear it.

I was thinking, maybe the box i have now is too big and it is restricting sound waves or something. How close is the sub in a ported box supposed to be to the trunk lid?

Its 8 or 9 in. away right now. I think i saw someone reccomend about 12 inches or so.

Hmm, im gonna see if i can get my hands on a 15 in. single sub box to hook my sub up to. Maybe the box isnt a good design for my car.

Question, as a general rule, is it the bigger the box, the more power you can give the sub or the opposite way around?

It's the opposite way around. The speaker can become more efficient, but after a certain point it has no damping from the box and will just proceed to overexcursion and mechanical failure.

Just throwing a sub in any box is a BAD idea, I completely argree with this statement:

As per my comment before if you put one of those drviers in a correctly designed box it will should be more then enough even if your going deaf.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

What i meant was that i'd just throw it in whatever box they had at the audio store to see how it sounds. If it sounds as good or better in a cheapo (normal ported box) than i know something is wrong with my box and i can start looking to get another one made.

One question: will your proposed box actually be able to be put into the trunk or have to be built inside it? I have a 2000 Alty and your box specs would be pretty much be my entire trunk, but NO way to get it through the opening.

I did 2 15" RL-P's each in a 2.5^3 @30Hz box and even by building test boxes ahead of time I still had to cut some metal near the rear/bottom opening to get them in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Might want to look for subs that will work in a smaller enclosure or perhaps do a single 18" if you can make it fit.
