I know this isn't 1997 but whats with all the car audio sub prices.. ?

Subs have gooten a little more pricey, but look at the advancements we have made in them. Go from a sub that would max out at 200watts to something now that will take upwards of 20k.

Amps in themselves, as said, have become cheaper. Advancements in design and technology have played a major role here. Class a/b to class d and there are others. Also have to look at the draw that these amps take now compared to back then.

Look what TC Sounds just did to their pricing. And RE. Its not all about technological advancements, some of its simply about what the market will bare.

Screw 1997, how about 2-3 years ago. I went out and bought of a pair of arguably the best subs at the time (xxx's) and the pair cost me less than a grand. Just a few days ago i saw someone bragging about the $3k msrp pricetag on their one TC Sounds LMS Ultra, prolly stoked he bought for a mere 2400. Im sorry, but there was no 4X-6X technological advancement in the past few years. Much of the pricing lately is getting out of hand, nice drivers or not. And that's coming from someone who could easily afford LMS's if I wanted. I just couldn't possibly justify it to myself.

There are alot of factors. *shrug*
