I am in the process of outlining my car stereo system. Will be going into an 06 audi a4. I had a eclipse aluminum sub in my previous audi, and it hit pretty hard with a fosgate 500watt amp. the sub box enclosure was sealed and way too small.

I am probably going to be getting Rainbow Geranium Components and Audison amps to drive them. Now comes the subwoofer. I am looking for SQL. So i am looking for a sub that will hit hard and clean with a sealed enclosure. SQL is key.

I have been seeing a lot of posts about RE XXX, Digital Designs, and Adire. My question is, what sub you would recomend for me.

Note, i really only want to run one single 10 or 12'' due to space constraints.

Thanks for the help with the newb thread.

If you have money to spend. Which it seems as if you do. Then the XXX would be very nice. Just that the amp to push it may cost a couple bucks extra outta ur pocket.

I dnt think you searched heard enough:) But the pg rsd sub is a great sql driver. Got very good reviews in the car audio mag aswell. Something worth a look at with that power..

Maybe 30''W x 20''H x 20''D I haven't gotten the space constrait down yet.

Has to go behind the larger of the fold down seats and not intrude on the spare tire in the floor.

Well that's 5 and a half gross cubes of space you have to spare. The best bet would be a pair of 12's in a vented enclosure. You'll have the cone area to match the vented box, the efficiency of a large vented enclosure and you can make a variable tuning system with either regular round, slot ports or aero vents. You can tune to whale flatulence frequencies or all the way up to hummingbird flatulence notes. A trio of 10's does the job better normally but you said you have 30" to work with, which I took as the width. 2-12's in 4.5 cubes net with roughly 70 inches of vent area...whichever porting style you chooze to yooze. Make them 18" long and you've got a sure bet. Block off half of the port(s) to tune it down there a good bit for SQ. Unblock it/them for the L part of SQL. Good times to be had. If you can spare a tad more width, I'd recommend the 3-10's. More motors and more cone to get the job done. The less the cones have to move to generate the desired output, the less distortion. When it's vented and you are playing around the tuning frequency, the subs move less and the port does the work = less distortion still (if it's all designed and built properly). Good luck with it.
