i have no idea whats going on...

Hey everyone, thanks for reading and helping out if you intended to. So i have a 2011 chevy silverado, comes with a built in bluetooth mic for my cellphone and instead of getting a head unit and making the steering wheel controls and bluetooth useless without buying a $300 dollar kit, i decided to get a Line output convertor. So i have a PAC SNI-35 LOC with a 8105D kenwood amp pushing 2 10" kick comps in a ported box under my back seat in the extended cab. Now my question is, i have all this power, all this sub, but not nearly as loud as my buddies who has 2 10" kenwoods with an 800 watt xplod sony amp....and im really confused because ive tried everything, wiring them in parallel, series, rewiring everything, messing with the gain, frequency, bass boost, and especially messing with the LOC settings, it has 2 little adjustable knobs that you can turn, and it says to turn them both clockwise for increasing the sound/gain/frequency (couldnt really find out what it did to be honest) and still, it sounds like my subs are turned all the way down, they arent moving at all....So before everyone suggests i need to get a head unit because i may not be getting enough voltage to the amp from the RCA input, i tried to put my box in my buddies car and hooked it up to his amp and still, they sounded really really low, and didnt do anything to the amp or head unit after his was literally shaking the house.....

So my question is, is it the subs, my amp, the LOC, are my subs wired wrong in the box enclosure, they couldnt be blown because they never were that loud, maybe bad wiring in the box, or maybe the wires in the box shook loose. i have no idea, im a car audio n00b....so any input would be greatly helpful....thank you in advance.

Thought I saw another thread about this already?

Any way, try a diff. setup in your car on your equipment, if it sounds better/louder... then it's your box or subs?

Phasing, wiring, or box dimensions for your subs? It could be tuned to something higher than your music? Might be too small?

Try one sub hooked up and see if it gets loud... if it does, try the other one seperately and then wire them up correctly

the amp is able to run at 300 watts RMS @ 4 ohms, i have it wired in parallel right now, so its 500 watts RMS @ 2 ohms...

so like i said, i have no idea what is happening lol, but its in a custom box that fits under the back seats of my truck, High Output with Labyrinth Slot Vent Port Design Dual 10" Subwoofer Box - Speaker Boxes USA thats the box i have, and i know its not the amp, it cant be, because like i said above, i put my box into a buddies car, and it sounded the same, so its either my box, or there is something wrong with my subs....

cant draw a diagram right now but i can try to explain

so i have the two subs in my box, have the left sub + and - running to the + and - on the other sub, then the + and - from the amp going into the right sub, so wired in parallel

i believe its 2gauge wire.

Unless you're running higher than 8 gauge I wouldn't worry about the wattage not being able to get through. It's only 500 watts @ 2 ohms. So... What kind of head unit does your buddy have?

It's either how they're wired or your subs are blown... I'm thinking the latter.

If there's no obvious VC rub, disconnect your amp and try taking a 9-V battery and touching the negative lead to the negative terminal and positive to positive... just touch them together and you should hear it pop.

2 10" powerbass xl In a 08 gmc extended cab

I got a custom made box and powering them with alpine pdx 1.1000

U can't stand been inside.Lol.. It's about efficiency and knowing how u have everything connected

And the subs are only 300 watts rms

well, after almost finally giving up and being stuck with my crappy subs for the rest of my days, i plugged the port. I took a towel and shoved it into the port thinking having a ported custom box under the seat in a truck was kind of hoaky. So i took a towel and shoved it into the hole, and i must say: alot better. So, now im looking for a guide or something on how to close a ported box, i was thinking just getting some MDF and cutting out a square, putting it in the hole, screwing it into the box, then putting some silicone around it to make sure its an air tight seal.

Are you sure your box/subs are setup correctly? I'd definitely think it was your box, but if your subs are 'barely moving', it's a strong possibility that they're blown.

yeh, it is the box, its ported, and that was the problem....the box is a custom box so the air flow in the box to actually utilize the port was actually working against the subs....so like i said, i just need a guide or something to seal the box up if anyone knows of a guide or something...
