I have Brain Damage from Car Audio

Perhaps some legitimate scientific proof that this is even possible would help people take this half seriously. Any links to research? Considering lots of people work in noisy environments (factories, concert halls, military/artillary/etc.) you'd think we would have heard of such extreme symptoms before?
I'd venture to guess if someone did indeed have the symptoms described by OP they would not be caused by loud music.
Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

As for the OP specifically, it talks about possible nerve damage a few paragraphs down.

What does scientific proof have to do with trolling the OP outside the Dome. Its against the rules.

Just have to be careful... to some folks 10mins of 110+dD can cause hearing loss, anything above 130+db and you are talking about possible nerve/brain damage. Someone noted about ringing noise that is actually a sign of hearing loss btw.

Live loud but not too loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I cant imagine why someone would make this up, but I could see it happening to someone that listened to music that drops really low alot. Those low frequencies can cause hearing damage. A lot of people that have never heard 135dbs, the first time they hear it, alot of people think it hurts their ears. So I can see it happening to an extent.... But then again there are trollers on here so I guess we'll never know without some form of documentation.

Dude thats funny as s*it though lol

Yes, It has happened. 5 years of loud music has left me almost paralyzed.I used to bump loud for about an hour a day. It happened while i was listening to loud music, I felt something go wrong with my right ear

4 months ago I was diagnosed with Cranial, Vestibulocochlear, Facial and Auditory nerve Damage. All these nerves are in your Brain.

My symptoms are:

Hypersensitvity: any sound is extremely painful ( even the tick from a clock)

Ear palpitations

Extreme ear Pressure

Brain tremors and jolts

Cluster Headaches

Facial numbness

Tinnitus

Vertigo

Nausea

Anxiety

Depression

I can barely get out of bed, and have not had a conversation with a person for 4 months. Its just too painful. The only thing I can do it surf the net alone in complete silence. Talk about a Change!

My advice to all of you is to STOP this hobby. If you must, have a SQ system with a soft front stage.

For low end use an A/B mono amp with an SQ set up, like an Image Dynamics ID-Q sealed in 1 cu ft enclosure.

Other than that, I wish you guy never have to experience this, but the truth is, everyone on here will experience some sort of damage. I hope not this debilitating.

Good Luck
you picked a wrong hobby. car audio is not for the faint of heart. in your case, sound

Exactly....

But IMO, the OP started the trolling outside the Dome with this thread....

If he is serious, lest see a pic of the doctor's report stating this is so.

If there is no such report, well then this is just another BS troll attempt by what appears to be an AE of a banned member.....

The link actually goes to the "What sounds cause NIHL(noise-induced hearing loss)?" section of the page.

I'll go ahead and copypasta for everyone here

NIHL can be caused by a one-time exposure to an intense “impulse” sound, such as an explosion, or by continuous exposure to loud sounds over an extended period of time, such as noise generated in a woodworking shop.
Sound is measured in units called decibels. On the decibel scale, an increase of 10 means that a sound is 10 times more intense, or powerful. To your ears, it sounds twice as loud. The humming of a refrigerator is 45 decibels, normal conversation is approximately 60 decibels, and the noise from heavy city traffic can reach 85 decibels. Sources of noise that can cause NIHL include motorcycles, firecrackers, and small firearms, all emitting sounds from 120 to 150 decibels. Long or repeated exposure to sounds at or above 85 decibels can cause hearing loss. The louder the sound, the shorter the time period before NIHL can occur. Sounds of less than 75 decibels, even after long exposure, are unlikely to cause hearing loss.

Although being aware of decibel levels is an important factor in protecting one’s hearing, distance from the source of the sound and duration of exposure to the sound are equally important. A good rule of thumb is to avoid noises that are “too loud” and “too close” or that last “too long.”

noise induced hearing loss is not what he's describing at all

First - He's describing INCREASED sensitivity to sound, which is the exact opposite of noise induced hearing loss.

Second - His attribution of these symptoms to car audio is pseudoscience at best. There is absolutely no way it's provable or disprovable, he might as well have said it was caused by cosmic radiation.

Third - What he's describing is extensive and widespread nerve damage within the brain. This is different than the strictly hearing-related symptoms of noise induced hearing loss, and to the best of my knowledge, is not consistent with the mechanics of NIHL.

97% sure this guy's making the story up for a laugh - he's got three posts and they're all here. Even if he's not making the story up, he's still trolling by definition.

*In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response*

You know, with a little research of my own....

It seems that your above described symptoms have about 10% chance to do with car audio and 95% chance to do with a drug/alcohol addiction and or withdraw.

Not saying that this is your case op but this just sounds way to fishy....

BTW...

tinnitus and ear palpitations one in the same...

I am surprised people think, I am trolling. The truth is I am in a very tough place in my life.

I think the frequencies that damaged me the most was the higher frequencies. I had a pretty harsh front stage.

There was also other factors to the damage, but I attribute car audio as the number ONE contributor to the damage. I listen to music all the time. At home, everywhere I went.

Someone mentioned that I have no ear pain?

I have excruciating pain in my right ear every second of my life. I have no problem showing you a doctors report, but what is it going to change?

I am Fvcked, and not much will change that right now. The least I can do is to inform you guys to mature up.

If you truly love car audio, and have to have a system. Wise up and have a pure SQ set up.

All the best

UMM....

SQ can be loud as well:fyi:

so your point of having an "SQ" only system is null....

You wouldn't happen to be a member of this would you?
