Michigan State Foreclosure Task Force
What is the Michigan State Foreclosure Task Force?

Following meetings in Lansing and Detroit in May 2007 convened by NeighborWorks and Michigan’s CRA Association, several organizations including the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM), Detroit HOPE, Southwest Housing Solutions, and the Michigan Community Action Agency Association (MCAAA) began discussing the potential for organizing a statewide Foreclosure Task Force to address the state’s foreclosure crisis in a coordinated fashion. The three key areas of need identified by attendees at the Detroit meeting were: 1) augmenting and coordinating education and prevention efforts statewide; 2) creating a pool of rescue funds to assist families currently at risk of foreclosure; and 3) addressing the state’s weak laws around predatory lending and mortgage broker regulation and advocating for stronger policy. It was suggested that a formal proposal outlining specific goals, involving many partners and proposing real solutions could create the necessary framework to leverage resources from state and national sources and organize stakeholders to most effectively address these three key areas of need.

As of October 2007, the Task Force has met three times and has outlined specific goals around networking, resource development and standardized training for homebuyer counseling. Current activities, action steps, alerts, and resources will be tracked through this website

Best of luck to your friend and his mom.

Hopefully theres some agency that might help them.

Not to be a dick, but should "rescue funds" go to help save a family from losing their house if the homeowner is jobless and can't continue to stay afloat and keep up with the mortgage after being rescued...

10K in 2 months..... with the scenario you describe them to be in...for whatever reason.... sorry, but reality check......not happening.

hell, im ok financially and i think i would have a hard time without refi car or house to gain that kinda cash on a whim......thats with excellent credit even.....

best advice to give, they both need to get decent jobs....something......prove they are willing to work....then talk to a bank, hell even if it is a **** loan shark bank with high interest..... get the money they need, work work work...gain some credit backing then refi that loan at another bank wtih better interest...and just keep working on loan.

key word is WORK. Meaning, they need to have jobs....not much you can do for them.......i have been there before too with friends, but part of being a man/adult is stepping up to the plate and making shit happen...not relying on others to find the answer for you.

hard knock life it can be....but sometimes that is only way people can learn.....

as Calvins dad would say...."it builds character"
