I used offbrand dynamat, 3 layers and put some foam in some spots. and used mdf spacer with clay

polk db651 60 watts.. only using half volume on some songs it sounds awsome.. but any rap song with heavy bass notes like most of eminems stuff just rattles my entire door panel. What can i do?

what are you crossing at for your midbass speakers? your door shouldnt rattle cause your mids shouldnt be playing those freqs. try crossing higher to get rid of the rattle. start at what your sub is crossed at and slowly go up until you get rid of the rattle while playing some jeezy or something. leave all the midbass (80-200hz) to the comps ideally, but if they cant handle it you have no choice. someone more educated can add in more

when you mean rattle is it the rattle from a long eeeeer bassnote or the rattle from the bang of midbass? if its the impact of the midbass doing it go with what the dude below me said also the offbrand dynamat might have screwed you

Did you apply the deadener to the vapor barrier or directly to the door panel? Use a heat gun or blow dryer and a roller? Check for any loose wires? Components for the windows or door locking mechanisms? Could be a lot of things.

well i dont have a sub, no room for one its a small lil mercury capri. and these 2 lil 6.5 speakers actually have good bass( to me anyways) they dont really rattle crossed over at 80... but sound much better playing the full spectrum.(besides the rattle)... its more of a vibration that comes and goes.. sounds like the door panel plastic...

It really all depends on how low you cross them and bracing at this point.

You're going to have to make a sacrifice somewhere... that or get in there with some braces.

play test tones, find dem rattles, and kill em ded with whateva it takes.

or x your speakers at 80 hertz and get a sub.(but doors might still rattle ftl)

foam the **** out of the inside of the door panels. do they clip in or screw in? if clipped they may be worn out. if screwed maybe they arent tight enough. usually a bead of foam around the perimeter of the panel with stop most vibrations.

what you said makes perfect sense. leave them at 80, settle for midbass for now. pick up a decent sub, anything that can reproduce low freqs and a cheap amp. if its out of budget do the solutions all the smart guys above talked about.

you can do like an IDQ10 and a decent small amp and really flesh out your system without "going all out". if your car is that small you could even do an 8" back there and if you pick a sensitive one you wont need a giant amp

depending on what your budget is you may only have to spend like $200-300 more to get a musical system but go ahead and do what the other guys said too

i would have to disagree with the "cross them over higher" comment. ideally you would want to have as much of the frequency range up front as you possibly can...if the speaker can play that low, DO IT. when the music plays, try to locate the area that rattles and troubleshoot.

A sub is going top make a very big difference, so definitely consider that option. As has been pointed out, resonance can be coming from anywhere. You can stop it by putting your hand on the resonating part, so start feeling around. If it really is rattle, it could be the door panel on the sheet metal or any part inside the door. It's also possible that what you are hearing as rattling is the speaker distorting when they try to reproduce high volume low frequency sound.
