What's the easiest way to maximize either 1 or 2 10" subs for better sound quality and smoothness: 2 in a sealed enclosure that is larger than specs call for, 1 sub in a vented enclosure tuned for a mostly flat response (very little peak on the low end), or any other suggestion which I am totally open for. Let's assume that there's no cap on space or money (but as a personal preference, I'd rather have 10's), and I listen to too many different kinds of music to get it right immediately.

LMAO! That was fair. I'll be less vague. I tried an Infinity perfect 10DVQ in a sealed 1.25cu box, and then had a ported box with a total flat response (26hz) and got a TERRIBLE mid bass rumble. Crossover set at 120, powered by RF 2 ch amp bridged so I'm pushing 512 RMS. In any case, neither worked too well.

Why you have the LP set at 120Hz? And what type of car? Could you do an IB set-up?

It's set that low so I can have a good transition from the mid low range from my comps to the sub. The comps are set at 100. What's an IB setup? It's a 07 trailblazer.

Your substage would sound and perform better with the LP set around 60Hz. the mid range peak you are hearing may be coming from the sub trying to reproduce mid bass frequencies. In your SUV a large sealed enclosure would give a much flatter response than a ported box and also yield better control over a broader response band.
